it prompts you to press esc. If you do, you just assigned player 2 to the keyboard and your friend would nto be able to control the game, even if in input settings player2 set as remote 2, and it works fine in the menus and calibration screen.
if instead of esc you press "B" in your controller, you just assigned player 2 to your remote1.
So for it to work, what I did, upon loading the character selection screen, we have to make sure that player 2 presses "B" first, then player 1 so the controllers are assigned correctly.
