Games are designed around specific camera viev and work correctly with it and changing it can make the game unplayable and require a lot of work to fix it. It's not without reason that you don't see first person camera in Mortal Combat and thrid person camera in Call of Duty.
There are few games (except driving games) which makes it.
One Street Fighter tried to implement it but it was failure.
Skyrim and Red Dead has two perspectives but in both cases they are using separate animation sets for each viev and probably a lot of other changes. And both changing camera between 1st and 3rd so it's not changes way of moving and interacting with world. Imagine amount of work required to change side view where you move left and right to 3 dementional where you can move in all directions.
Over the shoulder or semi-top camera - maybe. For now I included an option for having a high-angled camera in single player match.
It's a Early Access game so we can try a lot of unusual stuff, why not.
You can barely see whats going on in a game where you need to track your weapon and opponents weapon / Pos and that on an 2D Screen ?
