2. There will be no executions of already defeated opponents, but a "grab", if not defended, might end in beheading, or some other nasty killing blow. We plan to have 2 types of grab - "disarm" and "kill". Each can be defended.
We also plan to add more complexity to grappling, where the "grabbed" will be able to reverse the situation, and now the agressor is "grabbed" and needs to defend.
3. Currently (might change later on):
a) each body part has it's own "durability/health". Some more than others, depending on how necessary that part is for combat. For example, head has way less "durability" than left forearm (which is not really vital for 1 handed saber).
b) each body part has it's own minimal damage required to register a hit and lower it's durability. For example, a shallow cut on chest doesn't change anything really, but a shallow cut on your forhead and blood all over your eyes do. So even a shallow cut will lower head's "durability".
c) wounds lessen your "Stamina / Spirit / Focus / Will to fight" stat. Not only they lessen it temporarily, but also lessen it's max amount - you will tire faster if you are wounded.
d) wounds change your arm strenght (physics engine ragdoll's "muscles" are weaker), so your attacks are a bit more sloppy. Severe wounds to legs can change your walking animations to limping.
e) If the character gets very tired, walking and attacking animations change to very sloppy and guards are way slower, even to the point the character can't lift the sword anymore.
f) You will always be able to rest a bit and recover, to do at least 2-3 normal attacks, even if you are dead tired. If the opponent let's you rest, of course.
g) many times a single successful attack will end a fight on the spot. Especially if you hit the head.
I'm sure it will get more complex as we develop.
4. We can always add an option to show stats (bars, numbers, etc.)... but already at this stage you can clearly see who is tired just from animations. The characters lean forward, walk slowly, start panting, their sword is a bit lower, they do very sloppy attacks.
