Only part of screen visible in 1.6
Hi guys! Only the upper left part of the graphics screen is visible to me, and this part takes up my whole screen. I have tried different renderers and only software mode seems to be working for being able to see the whole screen but this leaves me with low resolution, bad framerate and lag. OpenGL works basically but I only see the upper left part of CS covering my whole screen. How do I solve this?

Try add "-stretchaspect" to startup in the game.

Thanks for the advice. -stretchaspect did not solve the issue though. I can see the full menu in windowed mode with -noborder but when entering a server it is right back to the quarter screen problem.

This is a problem, that your desktop resolution is higher than in cs.
Try to set up your desktop resolution in cs.

Thanks, but they are actually the same, 1680x1050. I have tried a few different desktop resolutions but in fullscreen mode the trouble persists. Reinstallment of steam and cs does not solve it either. Can it be something with the refresh rate? Color bpp? What a ridiculous problem. Thanks again

I think Counter-Strike is running with 32bpp in OpenGL Mode.
Try to set your Desktop and CS Resolution to 800x600.
And try this Launchoption.

-sw

or

-nofbo

Thanks man but I have still got this quarter screen thing going on, with -sw -nofbo
-stretchaspect etc.

I had been having the same problem as well. After going through these posts and trying a few of my own things i found the issue to be not with the game, but with the computer setting. While going through Appearance and Personalization for the display from 'control panel' i found an option showing something about 'Change the size of all items'. A box was checked for 'let me choose one scaling level for all my displays' with which i could change the way all windows would appear. Once unchecked, the options disappeared and just a bar showing 'Smaller > Larger' was left and i no longer had the issue. Hope that helps.

Add this in the launch options:

-noforcemaccel -nofbo -noforceparms -noforcemspd -nomsaa -nojoy -freq 70 -w 800 -h 600

completely irrelevant and incorrect solution, and what was the point of bumping a thread from 2014? is this a joke?
