common > Half-Life > cstrike_hd > models
Then go to the video options and enable the box "Enable HD models if available".
By enabling the box, the game will look in cstrike_hd folder for files first and if any files are not present the game will default to the files inside the cstrike folder.
If you have any other custom files you use such as custom sounds or sprites etc, you can also install them into the cstrike_hd folder as long as they are in their respective folders. The game will use all files inside the cstrike_hd folder before the files in the cstrike folder when the Enable HD models if available box is enabled.
Doing it this way allows you to switch between two versions of the game. Modified and Unmodified which can be useful if you play in any leagues. The unmodified default game will be stored in your cstrike folder and the modified game will be stored in the cstrike_hd folder.
Then all you need to do to alternate between the two is to enable or disable the "Enable HD models if available" box.
I use this method to run two custom mods. I use a retextured default model pack in the cstrike folder, which is new textures on Valves models and I use Hi-Poly models in the cstrike_hd folder.
You can see the hi-poly models I use here:
