userconfig's not working anymore?

so basically I've been trying to make this userconfig file as it doesn't exist in the steam folders by default anymore. however, once i've created a userconfig file and put all the settings in it (ive made sure it is in fact a .cfg file as well) and launch cs 1.6 it just crashes, it won't work.

i've been trying to find information about this online without success.

i'm wondering, did they remove this "feature" or option if you will or what's up? i don't understand, i've tried to make it read-only as well and removed my cstrike folder completely to get fresh files, verified the cache, reinstalled the game. none of these worked.

so how do i get it to work? this is getting on my nervs, also, if this is somewhat related to this issue which i assume it is, the autoexec file isn't there anymore either.

perhaps there are other people having trouble with this subject as well?

Of course I did, and it still didn't appear as a file by default so made the steps I did before which ended up with the same result, the game launches and crashes. I actually even formatted and reinstalled Windows too, although still doesn't work.

Do you guys play this game and or use a userconfig.cfg file in your cstrike directory working?

I also couldn't find it and followed some tips saying to use autoexec.cfg. Not 100% convinced it's working properly

I actually solved it a while ago. You must not type exec userconfig.cfg in the userconfig.cfg file but just the customized commands, that's why the game crashed for me before and that's the reason things didn't work as they should. Hopefully you guys get it to work as well!
