Does introducing custom crosshairs in cs1.6 constitute cheating?
Hello.
I asked yesterday "Is it possible to make dot crosshairs or crosshairs very small in cs1.6?" and you posted the URL of this video↓

https://youtu.be/wZag5Q3hixQ?si=vEP2EhLSO4ZDF_OY

I had seen this video in the past, but I thought I read in the comments section that "changing crosshairs using external software is not allowed because it may be considered cheating".
I would like to try it if it is not banning or cheating, but what do you think?

*Sorry for asking similar questions over and over again.
*I am Japanese. I am asking this question using a translation, so there may be errors in the text.
Please understand.

i saw this same video when researching how to have a true static crosshair, as I am tired of the crosshair moving when I shoot. I'd say as long as it isn't injecting anything in your game, it shouldn't be considered a hack/cheating but I am unsure of the legitimacy of this. I still say that no one would be looking into this if they just patched this in a long time ago. Counter-strike: Source and Global offensive/2 have true static crosshairs, but still have their own respective bugs. I'm convinced if Half-life 1 can receive an update 25 years later, they can add the console commands for a true static crosshair. you or I should not have to deal with finding solutions for such an issue

this is a 1000 year old question,
and the answer will always be:

draw a dot on your screen with a pencil, there u got a crosshair that nobody will ever detect.

dont think 99% of ppl actually ever did that, but any debate about this topic always ends in that question.

modern games always let you choose your own crosshair, so that question was never solved.

Some monitors have crosshairs built into them for this very reason, so no one needs to resort to defacing their peripherals. I seriously hope you guys don't do this. Also, modern titles allowing for more accessibility in customizing your crosshair should not be an excuse that Valve can not go back and patch the game to add these options as well.
