fps_max 9999 (or 144 or 240)
For crosshair, you'd need to change your resolution (800x600), otherwise you can't change much about it.
Edit: and of course the smallest one in the settings.
I heard somewhere that if you set the fps to more than 100, such as 240 or 300, you may get banned in the worst case scenario when playing on community servers, etc. Is this true?
I've seen this video in the past, but I think I read something in the comments section about "using external software to change crosshairs is cheating, so you can't do that", so I didn't touch it.
I'd like to try it if it's not banning or cheating...
in old games fps does change gameplay.
running anything above 100 fps is even illegal in a lot of servers.
climbing is 100fps.
bhop is 100fps.
surfing is 131fps.
slide is 100fps.
competitive is 100fps.
any variations will give advantages that are considered cheating in some servers due to physics behaving differently on different fps.
it would ruin movement scoreboards.
for competitive, ull even be at disadvantage if you have more than 100 fps, as any form of slow, such as getting hit, or slows after jumps, will affect you stronger and longer than other people.
just any main server wont allow it or kick you. if you upload any speedruns with it its cheating.
if changing fps was allowed, i would be flying across the map with ledging from a standstill. this would instantly break competitive.
i used to do that on nuke, just ledge anything 20x and fly into t spawn lmao.
its fun, but its not for the main servers of any mode.
most ppl would just play the same and just get hitblocked more.
just putting 144 fps cos u have 144hz doesnt work that way in cs1.6.
ud be at disadvantage for any gunfight.
That's one reason many ppl including myself stay on 800x600, it explain also why somany peoples suck at this game due to lack of map awareness. (they get flanked a lot)
You could be banned from altering the crosshair with external filesystem modifications.
