Convert cs steam version to non-steam version?
Hi Guys,

I have a problem. I have bought the steam version of cs 1.6 on one account. I want to play cs with my brother and we have two PCs in our house, both connected to the one account i bought cs on. i tried to seperate the cs folder from steam on both PCs so i have "non-steam" versions of cs 1.6 on both computers, so that we can play normally because you can't really "share" the game in this case, it wouldnt work. So my question: how to separate the steam version of cs to a non-steam version?

This is not how this works, this is not how any of this works.

so it wouldn't work at all? but you understand what i mean. Basically, how can i play with my brother on one account?(does it even work?)

You can play with your brother on the same account while one is not connected to the internet.
  1. Connect to your account, launch game.
  2. Disconnect your computer from internet (pull cord if necessary).
  3. Log into the account on second PC, launch game.
  4. Enjoy LAN?

Note: Discussing anything related to piracy is prohibited, just a heads up.
"Non-steam" isn't anything but a clever title for piracy.

Separating games from a Steam legit version to a Non-Steam one isn't possible in any way. CS 1.6, once bought, is tied within your account and you can't separate it as a Non Steam game itself.

What about if you tell your brother to download CS 1.6 as a Non Steam version instead till your brother gets a own copy of CS 1.6 from Steam? They both do work normally as they aren't so that different with the exception is just that, well, if it's whether took from Steam or not. Of course, your brother wouldn't simply download crappy CS 1.6 versions with customized skins or such, just a simplistic and original CS 1.6 Non-Steam version.

the thing is that some of the "cs non-steam" versions are full of viruses and nobody would know if these versions are safe or not.

Are you planning on playing LAN or multiplayer?

The simple answer is you can't both play with only 1 account. Have your brother make an account and buy Counter-Strike for him on that account. I suppose it's possible you could play on LAN with 1 account but that is 1v1 and not going to be as fun as playing on the multiplayer servers.

*Case Solved*
