On another note, I want you to look at this video and carefully analyze every aspect of it;

I'll digress a few and state some details that you should bear in mind.
I've been playing Quake over the years and the movement dexterity is of utmost importance to the game and serves a major role in all major game modes.
Strafe jumping is by itself a technique that required much practice.
The key is consistency — you gain it by practice; the generic statement that has been proven to be true.
It takes months or even longer to completely master the movements that allow you to take advantage of ground acceleration.

You may also need to practice G-Strafe which is tremendously faster than B-hop in certain situations, especially in Zombie Plague.

The basic is hitting the bhops. So the timing is important. Since you use the mousewheel it is very easy to bhop and you should learn this in one day.
After your timing for the jumps is correctly, you need to learn how to strafe. A strafe jump is already explained in the beginning of the first video from Robin: All you need to do is run forward (w), just before you wanna jump press a for jumps to the left and d for jumps to the right and stop pressing w. While you do this it is also important to use your mouse correct.
Just as an example: You wanna make a strafejump to the right, so you perform this:
1. run forward with w
2. press d and look slightly to the left
3. look to the right and stop pressing w but still hold d down until you jump.
For bhopping you do strafejumps in a row. The basic is explained in the first video from Robin too. Do what I explained and just before you land you do the reverse thing which means:
1. run forward with w
2. press d and look slightly to the left
3. look to the right and stop pressing w but still hold d down until you jump.
4. Spam your mousewheel before landing
5. Look to the left and press a.
6. Repeat 4.
7. Look to the right and press d.
8. Repeat 4.
9. Repeat 5.
10. Repeat 4.
11. Repeat 7.
...
If you get that right you don't lose speed. And you can go even further and "multistrafe"while you are in the air. This technique is also used in longjumps. For that you bhop like I explained but while you are in the air you strafe. This means you perform the direction changes (look to the left and press a, look to the right and press d) in the air too and gain even more acceleration.
Here you can see how it looks like. The shakyness is what I just explained:

Until you manage to learn that bhopping isn't faster than normal running and just usefull when you just wanna get away from a fight so you do like 1-2 bhops. I guess even in my last frag movie you never really see it because it wasn't a huge advantage, other than duckjumping.
