[Crash] Computer freezes when closing the game from title screen (Windows 10)

It happened to me at least 3 times already: I play for some time, choose quit from the pause menu to go back to the title screen. There I get a computer freeze (I can't even open task manager or continue doing something on other monitor) by selecting "Quit" or pressing Alt+F4. With Alt+F4 it seems a bit less likely to happen, I managed to close the game normally like that once.

I've had this issue all day as well, kinda tired of it. Considered making my own post since this'll be long and detailed, but keeping it all in one thread might make it easier on the devs.

Description: Upon exiting the game by any means (Selecting "Quit" on the main menu, using alt+f4, using "end task" in Task Manager) from anywhere (main menu or elsewhere in game), the screen will freeze. The mouse can be moved and some programs, such as VLC, will continue to run. The only way to end this is to hard-reset the computer. As a note, this has happened to me on both the OpenGL and DirectX rendering.

Hardware: I am using a 2-monitor setup on an ASUS ROG GL752 laptop.

16GB RAM
Windows 10 Home, Ver 1803
GTX 960M

Kind of a game-breaking/fun-ruining bug that I've never seen in another game. Really hoping it gets fixed.

Ah, interesting, I am also running the game on an ASUS N551VW laptop with a 2 monitor setup.

Found a way to reliably close the game: go to task manager, click dead cells, process details and then "close process tree". I guess the game starts some other process that is crashing in a horrible way on exit which is freezing the PC. Worked twice and failed once :/

I've got the same problem, only hard reset helps ;/

I've the same issue. I noticed that it happense in longer play sessions, if I go in and out in just some minutes it doesnt lock my Win10

Crashing here too after long play sessions. At some point the game just stops saving, so I lost a bunch of data twice now. I've noticed that after I restart my computer that Steam forces me to log back in again, which is kind of odd. I can't keep playing until this is fixed, even if I didn't mind having to restart my computer I can't keep losing save data.

EDIT: I've been quitting the game at the start of every run to try to avoid a crash (or at least try to not lose save data), got one anyway on the third of the day. However, I seem to have managed to stop the slow-crash in progress. Opening task manager I started killing processes as soon as I saw what was happening, of the multiple Steam processes one of them seems to have averted the crash by being closed. Unfortunately I have no idea which one seems to have done it.

I have the same issue. The game freezes when attempting to "quit" from the main menu, requiring a hard reset of my PC. Mouse is still responsive, nothing else (not even CRTL-ALT-DEL) responds. Complete hardware lock.

Initially reported June 27, 2018. Still no fix.

The crash now causes the BIOS to have to "scan and repair" my M.2 drive. Uninstalled.
