New Maps and Location

Ginger Island

A whole new region with new events, NPCs, monsters and items! You can unlock the area by doing Willy's chain quest. Complete all the Community Center/Joja bundles and wait for Willy to send you a letter. Inside Willy's cabin there's a door that leads to a broken ship, he will ask you to repair it with 200 hardwood, 5 Iridium bars, and 5 batteries. After fixing his boat you can now sail to Ginger Island for 1,000g each trip.

When you first arrive you'll notice some Golden Walnuts scattered and hidden around the island. This is used as a form of token for the Parrots to unlock certain areas and building repairs. You can collect them from picking from trees, digging, fishing, mining and fighting monsters in the Volcano dungeon, as well as completing island quests. You can also get them by planting and harvesting crops in the island.



Golden Coconuts can also be found throughout the island. Similar to geodes, you can send it to Clint to crack it open. Inside you'll get: Golden Walnut, Golden Helmet, Banana Sapling, Mango Sapling, Pineapple Seeds, Taro Tuber, Fossilized Skull, Mahogany Seed, or Iridium Ore.

Volcano Dungeon

In the center of the island lies a new challenge for players to explore. It features stronger monsters, traps, mechanisms, and new loot to collect. You'll find that bringing along your watering can can be handy when exploring the dungeon.
The floors in the dungeon is randomized each time you visit. The dungeon has 10 levels and in level 5 you'll meet a friendly dwarf that sells some useful items. In the final level lies a powerful forge that you can use to modify your tools and weapons.

Dwarfish Forge

Forging
When using the forge you'll need certain amount of cinder shards for it to work. You can collect cinder shards from monsters and mining inside the dungeon. You can forge weapons up to three times.

Amethyst	More knockback (adds 1 per level).
Aquamarine	More critical hit chance (adds 4.6% × level).
Diamond	Random.
Emerald	More weapon speed (adds 5 × level).
Jade	More critical hit damage (adds 10% × level).
Ruby	More damage (adds 10% × level to both min and max damage).
Topaz	More defense (adds 1 × level).

Enchanting
You can also use the forge to add/remove enchantment, or change the appearance of a weapon. Only the same kind of weapon works when changing its appearance and it consumes the secondary weapon that is placed. A prismatic shard and 20 cinder shards is needed to enchant a weapon. Enchanting will give your tool/weapon a random perk and you might need a couple of Prismatic Shards to get the enchantment that you want. Enchantment does not work on Slingshots.
Weapon Enchantments

Artful	50% cooldown on special moves. Can only be applied once to a weapon.
Bug Killer	Double damage to bugs, allows killing armored bugs.
Crusader	50% more damage to undead / shadows, prevents mummies from reviving.
Vampiric	Chance to regain some health on hit.

Tool Enchantments

Efficient	Axe, Fishing Rod, Hoe, Pickaxe, Watering Can	No stamina drain.
Generous	Hoe	50% chance of double item after digging.
Haymaker	Weapon (Melee)	Cutting weed has 50% chance of also dropping a fiber, and 33% chance of extra hay (directly into silo on farm, else into inventory).
Master	Fishing Rod	Adds an extra fishing level to the player while held.
Powerful	Axe, Pickaxe	Extra power level.
Preserving	Fishing Rod	50% chance that bait and tackle aren't consumed on use.
Reaching	Iridium Hoe, Watering Can	Increased charge-up capacity for greater area of effect.
Shaving	Axe	Chance of extra wood from trees, hardwood from stumps, produce from giant crops.
Swift	Axe, Pickaxe, Hoe	Tool use is faster.

The forge can also be used to combine rings. You can't combine two of the same ring into one, and you can't combine previously merged rings.

To forge Infinity Weapons, you'll need a Galaxy Weapon, 3 Galaxy Souls, and 60 cinder shards. Galaxy Souls can be obtained as Qi's reward and costs 40 Qi Gem each, or from the Bluebird Trader after you complete Qi's quest.

New NPCs

Leo

A lonely boy stranded on the island, you'll see him wandering around but is too shy to talk to you. Earn his trust by befriending his bird family and maybe you'll be able to rescue this kid from solitude.

Birdie

Staring blankly at the ocean and longing for his husband, this poor old lady was stranded for so long she already forgot what it's like to have someone to talk to. She shows you a portrait of her dead husband and asks you for a favor. Help her find something to remember her beloved husband before her last memory of him fades out of her mind.

Gourmand Frog

Just a vibin' frog inside a cave, nothing suspicious. He appears to be craving for something to munch on, nothing of those disgusting insects as this amphibian is living the vegan way. Though his fogged up mind is making him speak in riddles, will you be able to figure out what he wants?

Professor Snail

You'll find him trapped inside a cave, rescue him and you'll find yourself be his errand boy/girl. He explains that he's on the island to survey its flora and fauna. Help him collect specimens and spot rare flowers on the island and get rewarded with a special machine that can revive something prehistoric.

Farm Features and Items

• Ostrich (as farm animals). Complete Professor Snail's collection to get the incubator, and you can hunt an ostrich egg inside the Volcano dungeon by mining and fighting monsters, or digging 'worms' around the island.

Game Mechanics

• New item forging and enchantment. Can be accessed in the Volcano dungeon. Collect cinder shards and use gems in the furnace located inside the dungeon to modify tools and weapons, and even merge rings!
  
  
• You can setup a secondary farm in Ginger Island with your own hut and shipping bin.
  
• Special Orders Board (similar to bulletin board). Completing them will reward you new crafting recipes.
  
  
• New Community Upgrade (town shortcuts).
  
• Shrine of Challenge (Mines and Skull Cavern difficult mode).
  
• New craftable items including an Ostrich Incubator and Cookout Kit.
  
• You can now place most furnitures outside.
  
• Improved game menus and HUD.
  
• Plenty of new furniture (including a telephone, villagers can even call you!), and character vanity items.
  
• Festivals now have item shops that sell new items!
  
• Options for fishing tackle sounds (can be found in game options).
  
• UI can now be scaled independently.
  
• Jukebox now has shuffle mode. Choose random in the playlist to enable.
  
• Reworked slingshot controls (can be set in game options).
  
• Added Advanced game options:
  - Set seed value used in randomization;
  - Choose default vs randomized community center bundles.
  - Choose default vs randomized mine chests.
  - Can make Red Cabbage Seeds guaranteed to sell at least once at the travelling cart in year one, so it’s always possible to finish the community center in the first year.
  - Can access the profit margins and cabin related options that were previously inaccessible when creating a single player farm.
  - Can toggle monsters spawning.

Multiplayer

• Added local split-screen multiplayer mode.
  
• Added various new chat messages when a player does something.
  
• Using the return scepter now returns farmhands to their cabin’s front door instead of the host’s farmhouse.

@nerdy - you can buy them from willy or from the furniture catalogue. bigger version is also obtainable from Qi's reward shop.
Depending on the size of your tank you can place a couple of fishes or shellfish by making your character hold the item and right clicking on the tank. to remove a fish, just right click on the tank and a window will appear.

@beanbag - yes, you need three new fishes (blue discus, stingray, lionfish) for the master angler. You can refer to the collections tab under fishes in the game options for the ones you need.
