No, this game looks like it is 8-bit, but it is actually heavier than that, you can tell by the amount of detail and colors that are used. A NES would not be capable of running this game.

Charro is correct on this one! A lot of details in Shovel Knight are inspired by the limitations of the NES (and the spirit of games it brought about) rather than strictly adhered to. As it stands now, Shovel Knight would be a bit too intense to fit on a standard NES cartridge.

It would be exciting to see a true Shovel Knight NES homebrew adventure though. The dedication and attention to detail for projects like ROM City Rampage is rather inspiring!

To Blapple: I am sure this game will support binding controllers like the Retrolink NES and Retrolink SNES controllers, and if not, JoyToKey should work!

It could on some parts but not when it comes to screen display. SNES wasn't really much for 16:9 display. Many people would prefer a few more platforms in line before the SNES port though, heh.
