War Thunder
Coming to steam
Once it comes to steam, will players that already have account have to download it through steam again and just log onto their account? How will that work because I tried putting my launcher into my Steam library as a non-steam game and the overlay only works while I'm on the play screen, once I press play and the game launches, it no longer says I'm in the game.

Which executable did you add as a non steam game, pretty sure if you add the launcher it wont work, but if you add the "aces.exe" it will.

I have a couple of games on steam with original launchers, Planetside 2 for example, you can use the original launcher. Typically MMOs don't realy update through steam they just get you basic files like the launcher, wich then patches the game seperately.

It's a free game, you have to log in to play - so it makes no difference how you've downloaded the game. When it's released, you can uninstall the old one and install Steam's version. Then play the game as normal.

The launcher is a updater.
They have two choices: To let their servers or Steam servers take care of updates.
If they want to use their servers, they'll continue to use the Launcher.
If not, Steam will update the game.
Launchers are often used with massive multiplayer games. So, expect the Launcher for War Thunder.

Yes, other Free 2 Play games like Tribes: Ascend and Star Trek Online simply start up the launcher from Steam. Still, it would be nice for a change - Steam's update system is by far the best.
