I've tested it already, and also I had this mod. Just only one thing, it's a detail but doing it many times can be annoying:

Turn on the console and write "exec 360controller"

If you don't do that, the joysticks won't work, the buttons and triggers work fine.

That's why I suggest a mod in Steam Workshop, in order to let the game automatically detect the pads and joysticks. It will be faster without the console thing.

Think of the kids... oh wait, kids don't play L4D2... or SHOULDN'T. :P
