Too much history, not enough about *the game* - but your history lesson made you sound like somebody sensible so let's all keep an open mind.

It would be nice to make a text based game of your own , so people that are new to the genre (like me) know what exactly you're talking about :3
LinkGamer456 Jan 2 @ 7:48pm
I think that steam should open up a "Text based Games" catagory.
LinkGamer456 Jan 2 @ 7:47pm
I am expecting great things off of this!

The Oregon Trail: Director's Cut is a great modern text-based based game.

Thank you =), there will be no update this week because we are working on add on modules for Ethershard 2. Next update will be on the 17th.

That's pretty good. I also feel slightly embarassed because I failed to notice the announcement was made the 6th of June 2013, not 2014. :P

The loss of work when we moved away from Java was minimal. We took a lot of time with documentation and it ultimately saved our asses.
Kris Viking Aug 24, 2014 @ 10:21am
Heard about the change and while free is nice, I would've gladly paid the paltry sum of $2.99. :) Still looking forward to the release. Read that you took it out of java into C#. I can understand why since Java has not been the most secure platform, to say the least. How much extra time do you estimate it will add to the development cycle, if you don't mind me asking? It sounds like quite a change. Either way I love the idea behind the project and the dedication so you get a from me. ;)

i love how it's automatically crossplatform compatible

I loved it from the start. That kind of game is the best game, because all you can see is classic RPG with tough choices and stupid-only decisions for which you have to blame yourself only. Awesome! I'm looking forward to it.

Nothing nerdier than playing text games on Linux! Hopefully this gets greenlit~

Wow, this brings me back to when I was a kid, playing text based games on my uncles 286. Keep up the great work!
Wayne Sep 23, 2013 @ 3:41pm
Really awesome, now is this a tool for creating text based games or a text based game or both? Either way I'm glad to see someone trying to bring back this style of gaming. to the main stream. The most recent (though not purely) text-based game I've played has been Zafehouse, really awesome game, but it's not meant to tell a story it's meant for you to imagine your own story. Wishing you luck!

@DarkGriffin
Looks like theres a issue with the CMS that's affecting phpBB's normal functions. Damnit, unhooking it and reopening forums, sorry about the inconvenience.
Bishop  [author] Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:48pm
@DarkGriffin
Ah no worries man, and thanks for reporting it. Let me take a look at the twitter stuff and ill get back to you.
DarkGriffin Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:39pm
@Bishop Ah, ok. Sorry for overreacting(I kind of spammed your email and twitter as well.) There just wasn't much news and then suddenly it pointed to the other url, so I wasn't sure what was happening.

Inform is pretty cool, but the last time I used it the way it's logic worked drove me up the wall. I spent so much time figuring out how to get it to accept new verbs and respond to them, and couldn't get it to seperate my descriptions from my "room code". But that's probably because I come from a programming background and mindset.

I've seen great things done with it, but it and me just don't get along that well. :p
Bishop  [author] Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:25pm
@DarkGriffin
Ethershard.net was not hacked. I'm getting ready to roll out the new CMS which is hooked into phpBB. Until its finished for security reasons, I wanted to restrict access to the forums. The reason I pointed people to Inform 7 is because I wanted people to have a look at what else is out there. Inform 7 has my highest recommendation!
DarkGriffin Sep 2, 2013 @ 2:14pm
Just a heads up, I think your site/domain got hacked, as any urls pointing to the domain redirect to the same urls on the inform7.com site.

I hope nothing too important was lost. I know the forums were mostly empty, but I don't know if anything else was lost.

I'm posting here because since your email is also based on that domain, I don't know if it's working or not.

Good luck!

Will this run on my Commodore 64?

@Sula
The target price for Steam is $2.99!
Sula Aug 3, 2013 @ 7:36pm
I clicked the "yes" I'd like to buy it if it were available via steam option but that depends entirely on the cost.
Arsenal Aug 2, 2013 @ 1:13am
Only problem I do have is that most TBG's you can find and play for free, now I like the idea of a saved file for anyone to read and you really end up with your own story but I would hope there would be a lot of veriables to the story.
I have played a few TXB's where when I would imput the direction it such as North and I would go North I would end up back in the same spots and the story kinda forced you on 2-4 paths of the story.
So my hope is that the game will allow the user to have 100's of possible paths to create their own story.
