The game's already out on desure and gamespot, but I don't expect it to pass Greenlight anytime soon.

I'm kinda put off by the RPG tag too, it stands for roleplaying game you know, which protagonist are we supposed to roleplay here. Seems like an arcade action game, seems pretty good but erm not a roleplaying game. Can't do much else than downvote this sorry

Hells yea I love horizontal shooters like these. I loved BeatHazard~ even tho that was a top-down, it was still a space shooter. This looks good~ albeit the color theme seems a little too bright and excessive on the contrast.

upgrading your gear/ship, the fact that you can continue the game after playing and a big weapon arsenal are NOT rpg elements. you find those elements in every genre, even jump n runs, partially even puzzle games. In fact they're part of almost every game which put a little effort into its dynamics (unless it's a point&click or something). seriously, this game has NOTHING from an rpg, it's a basic shmup.

It might be my colourblindness, but I had a very hard time following what was going in the video (and I play a lot of shmups, never had any problems before). The concept looks interesting though.

Good question! There are RPG elements. You can upgrade your ship and you can earn money to buy new weapons or even create your own. There's pretty much an infinite amount of different weapons. Also, once the game is over, like Diablo, you can continue back at the beginning with all your loot, but everything is tougher Action-rpg would be a better term.

I purchased Mactabilis via the "buy games not socks" bundle some time ago and I was given a key to activate the full game. Will that key work on Steam too, if it is released?

First, I apologize that my feedback ended up sounding a bit more harsh than I meant it to be.

I was mainly talking about the shots that are extremely bright and/or solid colors. They just don't seem to blend properly with the graphical style. It's probably because everything has outlines while the shots do not. Also, something I think could be smoother graphically is that really tall shot. It feels very graphically abrupt as it starts out bigger than the ship that is firing it. Perhaps it would look better if it expanded from a smaller shot so the point of origin makes sense (as the ship is much smaller than the shot). Anyway, I really do think that outlined shots that glow would fit better graphically; they would still stand out while not seeming so out of place. I also feel that the score font could use the same treatment.

Of course, if I am the only one that feels this way, then my opinion really doesn't matter. I do tend to be very critical over this kind of stuff.

Could you eleborate on why the "shots and effects break the graphics"? Enemies and their shots are always bright red and of a clearly identifiable color compared to the background.

Messy graphics. There are multiple styles here. Mainly it's the shots and effects that really break the graphics. The gameplay mechanic of moving from the background to the foreground to maneuver around osticles is good, but the game fights itself graphically and ruins everything. Have to say no to this.

I've got into the habbit of thinking that if it's a greenlight game it's still being worked on but guess I shouldn't think that just one or two of the things I saw in the demo such as the wording on the stages made me think it was still being worked on but as I said in the video it could just be the demo itself is a little older. Hard to compare when I don't have the full game :D

I have this on Desura from some Indie bundle or other. I've tried to get into it a few times, never succeeded. It's a neat idea, but the visual design just doesn't work for me.

I made a video for the game that might help show off some of he very near things in the game. Some of the ones that I discover in the game such as the different layers I should of known about from reading about the game but I have been trying so many greenlight games that I guess I forgot about it when I got around to trying it out.

At first it can appear overwhelming, but you get used to the "layer" effect pretty fast. The game isn't too difficult if you're already good at shmups, but once you complete it, it gradually becomes much tougher. This isn't a game that you complete once and that's it, this is similar to Diablo. Also there's "hardcore" mode, which is even tougher. As for the tips that break the flow, I can understand that. You can disable them in the options menu. Finally, the cash is much more exciting than points, in normal mode anyway. You can use it to make your own weapons!

I played through the demo on arcade mode and there are several things this game needs work on. The multiple-layers thing is a neat idea, but you need more visual cues like the trees in the jungle stage, too often I couldn't tell if an enemy or a bullet was simply dark in color or if it was on another layer. Also, since many of them share similar shapes and colors, I sometimes had trouble telling apart enemies, bullets, and powerups. In addition, the game simply feels too easy, the regenerating shield and large amount of health meant I never once felt at risk of dying and bosses are underwhelming and die too fast. Shoot-em-up fans love going for high scores, but the closest thing you have here is 'money', which is not very exciting when it's earned $5-10 at a time - big numbers are fun. Lastly, you had tutorial text pop up several times during the first stage to break the flow, *don't do that*, if I want to look up the controls and mechanics, I will and so will any other player.
