Many users who supported your Greenlight campaign also purchased this game externally in part out of an expectation of a Steam key. In fact, most games in this situation have done the same in the past, particularly when they are part of bundles and thus have no additional costs infrastructurally to issue the Steam keys. While you might make the case that such expectations are not warranted, the fact remains that you have unhappy customers as a result.

Some of the anger you will face over this might have been soothed if it were made explicitly clear that you would not be offering Steam keys BEFORE being Greenlit. It is possible that if you had done so, fewer people would have voted for you and you would not have been Greenlit to begin with. If your Greenlight victory is based on a misconception (even if it's an honest one), that's bad for your reputation and for the process itself.

Well if you don't want to give gamers who supported your game on Greenlight and purchased it in bundles Steam keys, we don't have to buy games from you either.

I can't believe something this major happened on Greenlight while I was gone.

This is the the one game I wanted to be Greenlit most here on Steam. It makes me so incredibly happy to see this happen that I'm not quite sure what to say. Thank you everyone who made this happen. And while I'm saddened that it took so long for this to finally happen, I'm so very glad that it did.

Yeh, I was mainly wondering, but yeh in more than 4 years it's obviously there'd be change. For instance the 060916 rev does not like Windows Aero and forces you to return into classic mode when playing the game.
Meanwhile, the version I got when I bought it from Indieroyale doesn't have this problem anymore.
And it's nice to see you guys at Rockin' Android are making so much effort about patching and stuffs your games. It's a fresh change from other publishers who just slap the game on steam/PC and will ignore any bugg found and just wait for the cash to cash in. That or companies who downright ignore complains, going as far as ignoring/banning people who don't agree with their way of doing things and denying stuffs they did themselves.

@Benomono: The English BMD does not use a conventional revision number because we try not to step on Murasame's toes, similar to the eventual separation of our version numbers from the Japanese ones in Gundemonium Collection. However, the revision number of the build meant for us was REV 101101 at the time we received it. You might notice BMD's revision numbers are just dates, so it doesn't really mean anything significant. I'm quite aware that there's no revision numbered like that in Japan, but hey, whatever, y'know? For BMD I decided that it may be pointless to show revision numbers unless I were to implement an automatically way to tag US revisions accordingly. Which may happen for the Steam version, so stay tuned in that sense.

That's why I said I was quite surprised. I mean I am well aware about Gundemonium and I'm pretty happy you guys chose that route. If that's Murasame that changed it from his game, I believe 060916 is the rev the Japanese version people post on youtube while the rev of your translation is... Actually I somehow can't find the options to enable showing the rev version, I'm guessing it was originally drawn directly on the game's main menu logo? I must admit it really did sound weird that the laser thing would be the one thing disappearing of all other things to be honest. I do think I heard somewhere that your version were a bit easier. Might be because it's a more recent version that had more tweak that eventually made it easier?
My bad about Sony, I completely forgot about GameFlow to be honest.
As for the soundtrack it's completely understandable that you couldn't just use the original like that without getting attacked for using it without their consent.

As for any gameplay changes, like that flashing thing or laser that you guys have mentioned... Murasame must have done that before he ever handed us the source code. The game had a lot of minor tweaks like that when we received it. Murasame himself also designed the game's widescreen mode. He must have wanted it this way. I don't change gameplay, I just fix bugs.

As for saying that it was ported to a Sony platform originally, that is patently untrue. Our work on BMD has been for the PC version all along and our PS3 titles were handled by a company called GameFlow as you can find in their credits, and BMD has no PS3 version. If we HAD done a PS3 port however, we wouldn't have let any dumbing-down or big changes drip over to the PC version, or would have made it optional. We feel giving you guys options is a great thing. For example, the PS3 version of Gundemonium Collection is censored. But on PC? The censorship is still available as an option in the PC version, but defaults to off.

Okay guys, I feel like I need to clear the air about all this again. First, the soundtrack.

We -ourselves- didn't make any changes to the gameplay or the original soundtrack. Murasame did the new versions of Knightmare Regain and Unchosen One himself, and it would be sketchy legally to use the old ones since, as mentioned, they are covers of older game music. Check out Shadowgate (NES)'s music for Unchosen One and Maze of Galious for Knightmare Regain. The arranged soundtrack was also based off of this 'new' original soundtrack with these two redone tracks, rather than the Japanese original soundtrack, of course. In short though we would have faced legal issues if he hadn't change this. On the bright side, the old tracks were mono and the new ones are stereo.

Wow you're right, I'm kinda disapointed they did that, I mean it's just funny when you think about it and that's it plus they pretty much removed the lazer too lol. Though I guess it has to do with the fact it was originally ported on a Sony platform, the enbodiment of NO FUN.

@Screwy: Well, it's translated. That's about it. Some unnecessarily problematic stuff was removed from the dark cavern (the balls that cause full screen flashes when hit and could perhaps trigger epilepsy and a penis shape in the first room) and the graphics update was what, two sprites? Oh and the first two music tracks were replaced since they were apparently covers of BGM from other games.
