This game is almost exactly like Dwarf Fortress, except with better graphics and, several hours in, horrific lag.
Vilmoth(HL) Aug 18, 2013 @ 1:56pm
i would like it more if it had multiplayer

Haters are going to hate, this is a great and enjoyable game. I guess every FPS is a Wolfenstein ripoff?

Mordenkainen Jun 9, 2013 @ 2:11pm
I really find it hilarious that people think this is a rip-off of Towns.
All of you should look up Dwarf Fortress and stop being bad at the internet.
Kuk i kano May 27, 2013 @ 11:11pm
Oh look, another terrible ripoff 8bit clone. Seriously, you suck.
mathius May 26, 2013 @ 7:51pm
An enjoyable game. I own both towns and gnomoria and gnomoria is a more polished experience. I can wait for this game to hit version 1.0.

This game is FREAKING AWESOME!!! Seriously. Yes, it's a more moddern and better looking version of Dwarf Fortress...and?!?!? You act like that's a bad thing?!?!?! I'm also a huge X-Com fan and I've played most of the modern remakes of that and liked them (except for a few).

Gnomoria is HUGELY addicting and has a TON of depth. Most importantly, it's INSANELY FUN!!!! I bought FarCry3 a few weeks ago. I'm about 3/4 of the way through, but since I've bought Gnomoria I just can't stop playing it and seeing how far I can take my kingdom.

I can see how this type of game might not be for everyone, just as Dwarf Fortress wasn't for everyone. If you like this type of game though and you're Not playing Gnomoria, well... I feel sorry for you.
LeoMazzei Apr 27, 2013 @ 7:52pm
Minecraft + Tibia + Habbo = Gnomoria

So I bought this game from the Gnomoria.com But never recieved a steam key. Is there something I need to do other than check my email? I see that some people have already gotten their steam key and was just wondering if theres something im missing or if ya just havent sent them all out or what. Please let me know. Thanks.
AshleyTheNeko Apr 10, 2013 @ 9:51pm
This is not a copy of Towns or Dwarf Fortress. It's the birth of a new genre. People always play the "clone" card, and it's almost never appropriate. This game was inspired by, and is by no means a copy of DF.
Bwiggs Apr 8, 2013 @ 1:41pm
I was wondering why there wasn't any music and then when you hit play, dude, you really made this guy happy! Besides the musical score, I like the simulated crafting/survival aspect of Gnomoria (This and Terraria will have to do, until we get Minecraft of course!) :)
This also reminds me of Tail of the Sun for the PS1, except not as intuitive (It was a caveman game after all... but a good one).
panda Apr 7, 2013 @ 8:45am
i like the way you explain the game. usually developers just show some teaser and you just have to gess how the game will be or what is their idea. Great work
TooMuChC4 [DK] Apr 6, 2013 @ 8:41am
My gnomes keep dieing by random spawning animals and goblins (and its too boreing to play without enemies)
It would be better if they would only spawn at the eges of the map
Combaticus Mar 31, 2013 @ 11:37am
This game looks great! Looks like a really watered down Dwarf Fortress (For those of you who don't know, get on the up and up, DF is amazing once you slug through the interface and learning curve.) with shiny new UI and such. Speaking of which, I thnk I am gonna go DF it up.
enthusiastic about spook Mar 30, 2013 @ 4:06pm
no offense to any of you autistic faggots who think this is good, but dwarf fortress is 100 times better than this retarded short bus rip off of DF with slightly more appealing graphics.
Russel From UP Mar 29, 2013 @ 5:30pm
ok... honestly, I really think that this is just a copy of Dwarf fortress. I don't really want to put down this game, I mean it may be able to set itself different from dwarf fortress, but as of now I really do believe this to be dwarf fortress light with a pre installed texture pack. Maybe in the future it can prove me wrong like towns proved me wrong about it being a df (dwarf fortress) copy, and I do hold hope that it can, but so far I think this is just trying to piggyback on df''s idea and years of hardwork. I mean come on... You start off with 7 gnomes and in df you start off with 7 dwarves. But to be extra clear I don't wanna discourage this kind of genre of game, but i don't wanna see half ass clones either. Please guys at gnomoria.... Do something to set yourself as Gnomoria and not df light.

greate! finally arrive
memory31 Mar 20, 2013 @ 2:56pm
Oh and saying "it's just towns", this is like saying "oh Crysis is just like Half Life or Left 4 Dead; you run around and shoot things." There can be more than one game in a genre.
memory31 Mar 20, 2013 @ 2:55pm
I really really like this game. The early game is well developed, and the first few years are a lot of fun. It's not so much about winning or losing but doing what you want...of course you do need to keep your gnomes alive!

In terms of similar games, it's a sandbox version of a management game (Evil Genius, Dungeon Keeper, etc). Overall it's clearly heavily inspired by Slaves to Armok: God of Blood : Chapter 2 : Dwarf Fortress, but with attractive graphics and a good UI, as well as better thought out gameplay (if far less complex). Towns is a similar idea, but with some stylistic differences (and far from as mature). There is slight similarity to Minecraft in that crafting and a fully con/destructable world are big parts of the game, but the management aspects make it pretty different.

Overall, I wish there were more games in this genre. If you want management sandbox you have DF, Towns, and Gnomoria.

Better then towns.
StratX Mar 18, 2013 @ 12:45am
A completely different, refreshing change to the now bloated "block" game genre, aka Minecraft clones.

Look forward to trying the demo.
