@Bobrobby: Hey, thanks, that's one heck of a compliment. :)

BTW, new video out with "Organic Factions" -- would love to hear feedback from folks that have a lot of gaming experience.

This guy has hit on what makes Dark Souls so good, and he's bringing it to skyrim...

Hi folks!

Just in case you missed it, a whole new mod is out with tons of new features. There's also a voting discussion on Reddit regarding the next phase to roll out. I'd love to hear from you!

Greetings all!

Thanks again for your feedback! The mod has been updated, and a new video has been released. Check it out above!

I'd like to see these AI improvements as a sort of arena where you can choose what enemies you fight, and choose between a few preset arena layouts.

Will this soon be working for the entire skyrim world? or is it still only usable in your test dungeons? Also, I've been having problems with my AI ( their not using summons/raise dead spells instead they will equip them and then switch away). I was wondering since this is such a through AI mod if this will fix AI problems such as that.
ChopMasterOnion  [author] Nov 12, 2013 @ 6:21pm
@{-HB-}JinDal: Not a bad question at all. :)

Correct, the new AI is completely limited to the test dungeon. It requires some sophisticated logging and clustering of data to create the intuitive reactions of the NPC's. It might be possible to do a universal tweak of enemy AI, but it would be MUCH less sophisticated than what's in this demo map.

The good news is I've worked past most of the engine flaws / hurdles, and should have an update out relatively soon. The Forsworn are finally getting some improvements which should present players with a much more comprehensive challenge.
CmdrBaileys Nov 8, 2013 @ 8:55pm
you said "the entire content is limited to the test dungeon" so the AI changes onlyaffect that dungeon? sorry if my question sounds stupid lol but if it just affect AI in that dungeon will you later on make it change the AI in the entire game? that question bugged me for a long time now and now its out xD
ChopMasterOnion  [author] Nov 8, 2013 @ 4:37pm
@Ruin Stormshower: Yep! I've been honing some new behavior and spells for the Forsworn, and added a few extra creatures in there. I'm currently trying to get around a few flaws in the engine (bad information returned from GetPlayer(); creatures not resurrecting properly; etc.), but I have new features on the way!

Are you still working/ updating this?
NemesisLeon44 Sep 12, 2013 @ 8:04am
Absolutely brilliant.
CmdrBaileys Sep 11, 2013 @ 11:14pm
i like this. i never really liked the AI in skyrim cuz it isnt challenging most of the AI enemies just run up to you like suicidal chickens. having a challenging strategic thinking AI is very important for me :) i also hate when my AI companions are stupid as fck running against walls and fall off bridges and so on.. a good AI is the most important thing a game needs
Poofart Sep 11, 2013 @ 4:13pm
does it work with dlcs?
fishsticksman1 Sep 11, 2013 @ 2:03pm
This is the addon ive been looking for. It is truly the best ai ive seen in a long time in any rpg game.
John Galt Sep 11, 2013 @ 1:49pm
Does it need dawnguard?
(pDs)shignog Sep 10, 2013 @ 3:20am
I heard you say want player like and all that but alot of what you like is not what other players like. And with this game or other games the difficulty and player level will help with everything. but with you map you made you really made it to really make the AI look bad and how you did it look good, but it also depends on where you are at in a town, cave , open area i have not really had an 2 battles that are the same. Isee what you are saying but there was alot of over exaggeration on your part i think. I mena if you have played a game for so long that you know how everything is going to happen maybe time to play a new game? And the way you set it up and placed everything it seamed like you were trying to get it to do certain things that the game does not really do that i have seen. Kinda like when a benchmark comes out based for ati cards so that it will do better on ati and not on nvidia cards that how it seams like you made this mod.
Stylist Loco Sep 9, 2013 @ 11:04pm
It would be interesting to see a Master mage vs those AI :D
Me Sep 9, 2013 @ 12:37am
Very good AI, but they need to be more aware of stealth attacks. I managed to kill two mages with a bow before being spotted and I'm a warrior with a hunting bow and steel arrows wearing full Ebony armour (which makes a fair deal of noise!). Still much better than vanilla Skyrim and every other AI mod I've tried. Good luck making your mod series!
AlexBilledeaux Sep 8, 2013 @ 9:09pm
I'm very impressed. Your AI just pinned me in the upper area by coming from both sides and blocking behind themselves with lighting walls. Wow.
Darnitguy Sep 8, 2013 @ 2:57pm
There should be one big boss added that adds a main target for the player. So that once you take him out, it makes taking out the rest a good bit easier. But taking out the boss won't be easy of course.
Tuxu -=JeepC=- Sep 8, 2013 @ 2:56pm
There were to many pay-to-win games, grind-games and generaly do-it-my-way games in recent years which offer fast gratification after a quick "how to kill x" search google.

That's why i think that this video should get into the canon of gaming milestones.
Mythical Snails (She/her) Sep 7, 2013 @ 11:18pm
bosst?
UndeadWaffle Sep 7, 2013 @ 5:54pm
Very interesting and true video but you do konw people might just use this to bosst right?
Sleepless Laborer Sep 7, 2013 @ 5:43pm
Excellent IDEA, however I was able to simply run directly at every enemy and successfuly defeat all of them without healing once.
iggy Sep 7, 2013 @ 4:03pm
Is the AI implemented on all NPCs? if its not, when will it be?
ohap99 Sep 7, 2013 @ 3:02pm
They didn't use stratagy they just bum rushed me...
JohnSmith11 Sep 7, 2013 @ 12:52pm
Y didn't they just do this when they made the game!!!???!?!?!
Redphase Sep 7, 2013 @ 11:06am
Does the AI update all enemies in the game?
dr pebba Sep 7, 2013 @ 10:25am
pie head:)
БОГ Sep 7, 2013 @ 9:54am
As for me, not impressive. Also, do it at other thread, skyrim uses over 3.1gb vram/ram it crashes. :Clot:
Jarl Bonkerbitch Sep 7, 2013 @ 9:39am
ChopMasterOnion, I like your name.
Notransfat Sep 7, 2013 @ 8:26am
Wow this is absolutely fantastic!
Imagine if people made memorable dungeons from other games (WoW, Demon Souls etc.) and implemented them in skyrim with THIS Ai . You sir win the OldSpice award for awesome
Buko Kylen Sep 7, 2013 @ 7:44am
So does this actually improve the AI through the whole game or is this just this small arena shown in the video?

only thing that I'd like to see implemented is some type of smart dection system. on my assassin I can litterally line them up for the kill. they investigate when I kill an enemy only to be killed themselves this happens even if they witness their fellow AI slain in front of them. Granted my stealth level is high and my archery skill also I'd like to see them try to find me and flush me out instead of standing around to be slaughtered. :) Good work though!
ProRyker Sep 7, 2013 @ 6:38am
I would love to eventually see a AI mod that effects various enemy types in skyrim. Bandit tactics, mages, necromancers, draugher, soldiers, and even animals led my spriggans. You seem to have the AI science down sir. I salute you! I'm waiting to see more from you in the future! :)
Claire Sep 7, 2013 @ 5:43am
This is so cool, I always thought "stupid" enemies where one of the "stupid" thing of skyrim, you know? ( Like they didn't put enough time into smart creatures and npcs. ) But I think you just started something big, I like your idea! keep going!!
ChopMasterOnion  [author] Sep 7, 2013 @ 3:09am
Hi all

Yep, this is also on the Nexus -- the link is on the YouTube page. However, the Nexus appears to be down at the moment...
ronny.fonteyne Sep 7, 2013 @ 2:24am

ReaverOfCheesecake Sep 7, 2013 @ 2:19am
great video. It's nice to learn about the in-depth aspects for level creation and difficulties faced by the designers when it comes to creating ai and gaming challenges fro the player
s e a n Sep 7, 2013 @ 2:11am
This is amazing. It fixes so much that dissapointed me in this game. Also I really appreciated how informative and (maybe you were just touching the surface of your design thoughs?) technically descriptive the video was. I really would like to see more like it.
SinisterJumpingDwarf Sep 7, 2013 @ 2:04am
Is this on skyrim nexus?:fishing:
uroscion Sep 6, 2013 @ 9:04pm
I can't wait until this level of design is installed out of the box in future games! NIce work.
Cam-Waaagh Sep 6, 2013 @ 5:59pm

Xeta Sep 6, 2013 @ 5:28pm

@SkYrImAnDrUnEsCaPeIpLaY

Obviously I did. I am posotive i typed the command in correctly, so the only thing i could think of is if another mod i have is interfering, but i have no idea what whould interfere with a coc command if all the other ones work fine.
