Sorry, this completely flew by me!
Necabo Jul 13, 2014 @ 4:42pm
I don't know how the graphics are so bad at this time in 2014 :/
Felicat May 21, 2014 @ 1:07am
Very interested in this concept. Depending on the price, I'd like to see a demo. ^_^ Of course, that's true for all games for me.
Caffeine Apr 25, 2014 @ 8:36am
This looks great. :D Reminds me of an old series of comics I used to read as a kid.
Zander Corvus Feb 18, 2014 @ 12:06pm's just an RPG with the Attack/Spell names changed to reflect conversational aspects instead of actually giving the player choices within actual conversations with which to win the "battle of wits"?
I personally could've done better with RPGMaker.

Nice concept, but the execution is lacking.
No vote "Yes", here.
Idioticquinn Feb 11, 2014 @ 9:01pm
This. It seems like if phoenix wright and legend of zelda combined, and I honestly think that has alot of potential. YES.
lindley.waltersmith Feb 6, 2014 @ 4:18pm
Unique and charming. The hand drawn look of the art, especially the tiles drew me in, and I really enjoyed the different take on story and mastery to most RPGs, Definitely a YES.
Orbister Jan 16, 2014 @ 6:57pm
those "human" faces look SO DEFORMED, get some drawing classes, and look at real people, not just anime, learn to draw from the real thing not from other people's subjective interpretations, and its a no

This game reeks of linguistic pedantic from the description alone. The video, strengthens this view, as opposed to dismissing it.

It's borderline pretentious and irrelevant that you bring up the comparison to standard RPG stats when it's apparent they don't apply nor matter in the context of this story and plot.

Of course in a dream world where combat is decided through speech and not physical confrontation, standard RPG facets wont matter. So why bring them up? With an emphasis on inferiority on said stats as well.

GHNeko Dec 30, 2013 @ 4:16am
I hope "elocution" and "perspicacity" aren't actual stats in game and you streamline the use of language, and I hope these stats work in ways that don't allow a parallel between standard stats and themselves to exist.

The concept/idea are fine and have potential, I feel but the current execution is hindering more than helping. This description is very much leaving a bad taste in my mouth.

Props to sneaking in a 1984 reference though! If I get this, I'll be looking for more.
Fantastic Fwoosh Dec 19, 2013 @ 8:50am
Interesting game, but i was expecting a more of a courtroom vibe, rather than a adventure so to speak, still looks good though.
The Goof! Dec 15, 2013 @ 8:40am
Normally i say no to games made in RPG Maker simply because usually they seem lazy to me, because they stick with the resources you get with the software, or buy for it extra later.
It says a lot when someone puts their best foot forwards, and actually tries to come up with their own graphics and so forth.
So good on ya!
I wanna play it when it comes out. I am voting yes.
And let this be a lesson to other people using RPG Maker.. MAKE YOUR OWN RESOURCES!
Otherwise it just seems lazy, and i'm not going to be interested in it.
HADES2001 Dec 8, 2013 @ 1:37pm
i like the concept and i like that you made your own graphics im saying yes pure because of all the effort and would like to give your game a shot some day
Fenrir007 Nov 16, 2013 @ 2:23pm
Sounds like your game is built around a gimmick.
GhostxBath Nov 7, 2013 @ 12:27am
this really reminds me of earthbound in the way that it is abstract im very excited to see this game hopefully it will release soon!
MISG Oct 30, 2013 @ 2:23pm
I think this is an interesting conscept.
Zenobyte Oct 20, 2013 @ 4:30pm
The artwork reminds me of the scribblings of a bored child. I mean, I never considered myself to be much of an artist but I can at least draw better than that. Sorry but it's a no from me.
Kermit the Dank Frog Oct 19, 2013 @ 9:35pm
Im sorry to say it but these kind of games rpg games dont really belong on steam.
Bigturk Oct 7, 2013 @ 5:38pm
You have an interesting concept going, but just as some others have noted, a lot of the game looks very cut and paste. If you could further develop the idea I'd be glad to give it a chance.
xWCOGx Oct 1, 2013 @ 12:27am
This looks like such fantastical poop.
NisseDood Sep 8, 2013 @ 7:02pm
Should at least give credits for trying to make his own graphics, instead of going all out RTP like 99% of all rpg maker games here.
Doc Sep 8, 2013 @ 2:56pm
Interesting concept, but judging from the screenshots, this doesn't seem like its really all that different from other JRPGs.

The only difference I can see is that the standard combat options (attack, magic, defense, etc.) have been superficially renamed with things like "rhetoric"...

if you're going to base a game entirely on the idea of making clever arguments... then wouldn't it make more sense to try to emulate DXHR's method? Seriously, play through those conversations a few times, there are dozens of ways to succeed and fail at them with or without the social aug. THAT as a core gameplay mechanic would be amazing. But from what I can tell in the screenshots here...

its just slightly reskinned standard JRPG combat.
Xemnoras Sep 8, 2013 @ 8:45am
Good gameplay idea but graphics are too bad
juicy boy butts Sep 8, 2013 @ 5:45am
Oh look an RPG maker game, no thanks.
Default battle system, default menu system, default title system, default, default, default.
The only actual thing you did was create some disgusting custom graphics which, like I just said, look disgusting.

Nice job wasting your money to attempt to green light this trash though. :B1:
Beaulieu Sep 7, 2013 @ 4:00pm
OK, this is just to strange and unusual an idea NOT to see. Got my vote!
Lord Rutsah Sep 7, 2013 @ 2:55pm
this is made with rpg maker vx btw...
Symonch Sep 4, 2013 @ 12:40pm
This is interesting, really...
Since the idea is good, work on the "gaming" parts: gameplay, graphics etc.
I believe in this game =)
Smiley Magnus Sep 4, 2013 @ 1:18am
I think your idea of a rhetoric-based game is very good, but you need to work on the gameplay and the graphics, because they look really bad.
bear_storm Sep 3, 2013 @ 9:51pm
This is the most amazing thing. People are going to give you crap about the graphics, but I would buy this even if it was all stock rpgmaker chipsets.
Youth Worship Explosion Sep 3, 2013 @ 7:45pm
your game is going to look like shit when you upload the trailer at 360p.
MrNellow Sep 3, 2013 @ 4:33pm
I would like to see how this game will be shit
Inspector Wung Fu Sep 3, 2013 @ 1:37pm
it is so fucking ugly...:tradingcard:
walec betonu 8mej gęstości Sep 3, 2013 @ 9:36am
Do you seriously not see how hideous the graphics are? This is so sad... I'm guessing you just namedropped your favourite everything in the influences, right? I'm gonna like a game because I like a movie or a band? That's not how it works, son. Unless you're actually able to provide music/cinematics/gameplay on the level of those you mention and I seriously doubt it. How old are you? Did you do your homework? Don't stay up late working on your silly little game, ok?
Tryak Sep 3, 2013 @ 3:56am
I know where you're going with this. Not everyone is ready to see it through your eyes yet, but please stick with it. It has great potential.
sh0ck-wave Sep 3, 2013 @ 1:59am
Sounds like your main character choice is something like Rowan Atkinson or Stephen Fry.
'The thrust and jab of spiteful conversation comes to life in RPG form on a PC near you !!'

.. yeah can't say I'm sold on that, plus the movie looks like a lot of walking around selling pointless items to avatars that all look the same bar a different hat colour.
No thanks.
Froody Sep 2, 2013 @ 7:00pm
The idea of argument fights is great, but use this to your advantage, ie use flair on punctuation depending on the mood, or maybe have a timing approach where you need to respond quickly enough, if this is ever reworked, use this concept to your advantae
ƒḺö♏ Sep 2, 2013 @ 12:10pm
at least this is an rpg maker game where someone took the effort to create their own assets, you're on the right track ~☻~
Scriggleton Sep 2, 2013 @ 6:07am
I like the idea, but the execution is kinda pukey, IMO.
FPS Sep 2, 2013 @ 1:35am
Man, this battle system is, like, 30 years old.
1800-EAT-SHIT Sep 1, 2013 @ 4:23pm
not sure if bad art, or worst art. also get this RPG maker crap off grennlight thanks.
Aeon Zero Sep 1, 2013 @ 4:02pm
I like the idea of word fights, but:
1.Flash game graphics from 7 years ago don't cut it any more.
2.Don't use music unless you have a licence for it.
This is basic stuff.
Rocket Life and Building Bridges Aug 31, 2013 @ 6:28pm
Get an artist, make your own UI [ditch the typical JRPG setup]
HexStadium Aug 31, 2013 @ 4:09pm
Logomancy. The controlling of wood?
espanco Aug 31, 2013 @ 12:18pm
I like the idea, but you need to be able to explain this idea in fewer words. It's like a sales pitch, but even after reading all that, I still don't know what the hell Logomancy actually is. I wouldn't say your art needs work, but you need to evaluate your style. Two of your influences are Persona 4 and Final Fantasy 6,

I wouldn't say your art needs work, but you need to evaluate your style. Two of your influences are Persona 4 and Final Fantasy 6, take some cues from their art style and use clean black lines and smoother shading, it fits the RPG Maker Engine better than scratchy drawings. Kudos for using House of Leaves as an influence, if you can figure a way to play with the conventions of RPG Maker and the tropes of RPG's, you could have a good homage to the "stlye breaking insanity" of House of Leaves.
Shining ☆ Chainsaw Aug 31, 2013 @ 8:25am
While it's nice to see people using original art with RPG Maker at all, there are two major things working against you. 1) Your artwork still needs a lot of refinement, even for an indie game and 2) even when you went to the trouble of trying to customize, it still looks very 'RPG Maker'. That isn't using custom art to your advantage.

If you're going with a hand drawn look, in the future I'd definitely look into playing around with parallax mapping at the very least.
Daggorth Aug 31, 2013 @ 7:56am
I like the idea, but the production values are awful. I think you'd be better off realeasing this as freeware instead of putting it on Steam.
