Usually, bandits who torture and assault their victims kill them afterward. Neither do they decide that it would be a good idea to "put them to work" by teaching them how to fight and kill. I am surprised she didn't seize the opportunity, no matter how They usually don't attack homes and villages either, they make their living from stealing from and killing travelers and caravans, avoiding areas where law enforcement is present. There's no value in raiding homes and villages.
And then, when a fox she decides to make her pet disappears two days after she first met it, suddenly she's without purpose? A feral fox, likely to run away, is what devastates her, and causes her to go soul searching?
I am just disappointed. There had to have been other, better stories like this that weren't full of holes or cliches.
