Best open spell mod I've used to date

thank you so much, i have no idea why they left this out of the game, its really annoying because i always play mage and i feel like it really breaks the RP to pick locks all the time. thank you very much for making this

@ hansnicolaim2 :I ended up adding the spell tome to my character via console commands (help "open master lock") but thanks for the advice.

@Ontario: The Open Master Lock spell will unlock every lock except locks that require a key.

Could you make a version of the spell that opens every lock level, so basically all these spells into one master spell?

@MT Threat Try typing into the Console "Open level Lock" and while in the Console use your mouse to target Tolfdir by clicking on him and type "additem spell_ID"(spell_ID is the ID that is to the right by the "open level lock master" text in the Console. Hope you understood how to do it..

Cant find the open master lock book anywhere, even from the guy the only has alteration spells.(Tolfdir) All the other turn up fine. I have 100 in alteration.

@leazer425: i do have multiple mods installed. Glad the mod is working fine for the rest of the users.

@Tree: There are tomes, they can be bought from vendors (court wizards, Tolfdir at the College of Winterhold) or found in random loot.

@andrew.eg: I checked in my game and wards are working fine and their tomes are showing up alongside open lock tomes in vendor lists. Is it possible another mod is causing your problem?

@uhh.. Chalky: The adept tome does require your Alteration skill to be a certain level before you can find it. I think it might be 45. I used Stoneflesh as a base, so if you can find Stoneflesh tomes you should be able to find Open Adept Lock tomes.

Does anyone know where to get/buy the adept lock? Can't seem to find it anywhere.. Does tome require a certain alteration level?

Has anyone else had problems with wards not being in the spell list which this mod active?

wheres the tome? i have a thing where if iclick magic my game crashes to desktop, and apperently im supposed to learn a new spell from aBOOK but the thing is i know ALL the spells and i cant read the book, so i hope this hase a tome

@cameo2001: Last time I tried Midas the unlock spell brought up a dialog menu asking if you wanted to unlock the lock. This mod doesn't do that.

They're mixed in to the leveled loot lists, so you can find them in random loot or at vendors. The Master level spell can only be bought from Tolfdir after completing the Alteration Ritual quest at the College of Winterhold.

Just forget lockpicking and use these spells. does it work on chests too

I have never though over how much I would miss those spell until I played Skyrim thank you :)

@asblackcat6: I don't think so.

@IdleMuse: It works fine with other mods that alter vendor lists in my game. You may want to use Wrye Bash to make a bashed patch for it though.

@Artorias: In the previous version I went through and attached the open lock script to every base door and container in the game. Admittedly, this was a terrible way of handling it as it would be incompatible with any mod that also altered the base doors and containers or introduced new ones (including DLC). So with this version, I made an invisible quest that updates every five seconds, grabbing the ten locked doors and containers closest to the player at that moment, and attaches the script to them. This should make the mod compatible with all other mods and DLC.

If I open a lock does it count as a crime in the crime section of the stats menu

I just tested out this mod, and it fits perfectly into Skyrims magic system. I'll be keeping this one.

It's so disappointing that what used to be common stock in the Elderscrolls Series needs to be modded in now. Thank you for your work Leazer.

Hmm.. it's a master level spell. Tolfdir should have the tome for purchase after you complete the Alteration ritual quest at the College of Winterhold. Have you done that?

For those who still can't find the Open Master Lock Spell (I couldn't either) you can get the spell tome by opening console commands and typing "Player.AddItem 6d000d77 1". Quotation marks not required.

Where are you seeing this error, and what do you do to cause it?

I get: Script command "open" not found. when I try to update...
