It's just the script. If you have another mod that only affects model and animation, they should be compatible. The one place I've seen a clash with something like this was with the G3 icon, which used a modded icon sheet and modded the script to use the correct part of it. The G3 model and animation worked with the G3 script fine.

Does this only change the scripting of the weapon?
I'm asking because I'd like the use another model and animation with this.

The burst fire is coded into 'weapon_rifle_desert' so whatever's on the right end of the left half of the back wall of the gun shop, next to the sign that says '3-rd bursts for accuracy,' will fire 3-rd bursts and it gets the 'weapon_rifle_desert' script that normally calls up the SCAR-L model. Whatever's in the middle column there, with the 'combat-tested assault rifle' sign, gets the 'weapon_rifle' script that normally calls up the M16 model, and it fires full-auto.

It really needs a fire selector, but that's a feature to request for all weapons in L4D3, not something that can be modded in.

What this mod does is use a modified 'weapon_rifle_desert' script for 'weapon_rifle' to call the SCAR model and give it SCAR-H magazine capacity and damage in a full-auto weapon (because that 3-rd burst thing is a feature of the M16A2 and M16A4 not of any SCAR). If you have this mod and no others, you'll get the default SCAR (60 rounds, 3-rd bursts, 44 damage per hit) anywhere the game spawns a 'weapon_rifle_desert' and my visually identical SCAR (20 rounds, full auto, 165 damage per hit) anywhere the game spawns a 'weapon_rifle'.

I recommend pairing this one with the obvious counterpart:

... for exactly this reason.

Most of the other SCAR-H-related mods seem to be skin, model and/or sound changes, which will affect how this one looks and sounds too, as this one just uses whatever SCAR model is in use.

But unfortunately, after installing this mod M16 had same model as SCAR with 60 rounds and burst fire mode, but magazine was with 20 rounds and fire mode was full-auto.

Haha, if I will install this I will have 2 SCAR-H's in L4D2. I with EoTech and 1 without EoTech. Awesome.

It's okay. I don't do modelling (the software just didn't like my computer, or vice versa) so I just scripted the -H variant and left the model alone.

Sableagle, I wasn't trying to be an ass or anything. Just wanted to let you know, if you didn't.

Kharza: true, and you can go even further than that in identifying it:

Likewise, the M16 actually has M16A2 on the magazine housing.

SCAR-H models and straight-magazine SCAR models are available:

Find one you like and use it along with this mod if the model bothers you.

The graphic on that gun, at least in the picture, is of a SCAR-L. You can tell by the magazine well, and the magazine it uses. The SCAR-L uses M4/M16 mags, where as the SCAR-H has a proprietary magazine that looks similar to an M14's.

Ooh this is good. Will now favorite.

Cool trick with the shove, I'll have to try that. I also like to control the amount of shots, wish the game had fire select, if it did i would probably go semi-auto most of the time.
Sableagle  [author] May 28, 2013 @ 11:24am
This is full-auto. I first made it 3-rd burst, but the third round always went wild. This way you get the option of firing single shots, accurately if a bit slowly.

Curious trick I discovered for the 3-rd burst weapon(s): left-click-right-click. The shove interrupts the burst, so you can fire just 1 or 2 rounds instead of 3. Still, I prefer to be able to just tap one out at a time.
Shemp May 28, 2013 @ 11:15am
Does it fire in 3round bursts or semi-auto? Or is it full auto?
Neutrinovore May 27, 2013 @ 3:47am
Yeah, 'beware the recoil', alright! The SHOTGUNS are more accurate than this! Sorry, unsubscribing, and voting thumbs down. :(
