You've dinitely got a good thing going here! A background would help spice things up a bit too.
Amazon37 Sep 11, 2013 @ 10:14am
It needs background and more detail, other than that it is rather cool, Can't wait to see the final product on steam.
mutatedwombat  [author] Sep 8, 2013 @ 11:13pm
Thanks. I need to take a break from it for a while and come back to it when I have some fresh ideas.
BachBreaker Sep 8, 2013 @ 6:47pm
This game looks good, but it needs more features, good luck!

Even if it doesn't get greenlit; you have a greater chance of selling your game if you dress it up nicely; you can do it on other channels as well. Desura could be a good place to start. I'm sure there are websites that review and recommend casual games like this; you could also send your finished game to reviewers and hope for the best.

Thanks for the input, akcaye. All of your suggestions are good (the font and soundtrack issues have been raised by others, too) and I am working on improvements. I have previously tried the use of different "rooms". Unfortunately it is currently the camera that moves, not the blocks, and I found in tests that the use of rooms results in nausea as the background appears to rotate relative to the camera. (Even more nausea than is caused by Papyrus.)
I can fix that, but in any case there seems to be little chance of this game being greenlit, so at this stage I'm not sure when or where it will be available.

Thanks again for your input though, and your words of encouragement.

I like the concept. Never mind the people who forget that PC gamers are entitled to casual gaming too... and that not everyone has tablets or smartphones with decent hardware, or storage capacity, or even the battery life to play games on them.

However, the game needs better graphics, a cool and fitting soundtrack, and maybe most importantly, a font other than Papyrus... and NO, no Comic Sans, Arial, Times, or other horrible/free/stock font either. If your game will be based on blocks letters, the letters (and the blocks) should be quite presentable. Also, the background is important since there's not much else other than the blocks and the background. I'd suggest multiple, 3D, detailed and well-rendered "rooms" that would give the feeling of playing this game in a physical world. Some of them might be realistic while others more fantastic, like a level where you start with on a tiny floating island, and your blocks go higher and higher into the clouds the more you play...

This is more suitable for mobile and tablets, not for desktop games. I'm sorry...
Viv May 26, 2013 @ 9:20pm
good idea, but probably suited more for facebook not steam, voted no.
Digital_Destruction May 16, 2013 @ 3:33pm

what were you thinking with the papyrus font man

retool this. look at similar casual puzzle/word/etc games and just lift their wide appeal aesthetic because i don't even care about your idea at this point, it's 2 hideous to even bother
Apr 22, 2013 @ 6:48pm
Smart. Keep it Up! :D :D :D :D :D
Hopefully it gets greenlit
Catscratch Apr 18, 2013 @ 5:36pm
@Kana makes the perfect point.
For a game like this, it's stupid to play the computer. There will be 'easy' and 'hard. Easy you can't lose, and hard you can't win. Because the computer will either never play anything good or it'll have the dictionary at its disposal.
The 3D concept is just annoying, and the graphics are... not evne there, really.
Also, Papyrus font? Really?
Kana Apr 12, 2013 @ 3:51pm
Imagine if you could play a game like Scrabble against the computer?
Well, i could. It'd be stupid. I'd rather play with people, because the computer, by definition, cheats. Scrabble is a memory game, and the computer obviously has all the words memorized in it. Ergo, cheating.

Also, no go for you.
Stupid Sexy Puppers Apr 7, 2013 @ 4:51pm
Wouldnt even pass for a good quality newgrounds game, try yahoo games instead
DisgruntledGrrl Apr 7, 2013 @ 9:33am
NICE!! If Steam doesn't Greenlight, consider BigFishGames. I like this concept and game!
Aelyn Apr 6, 2013 @ 10:26pm
really?...
UrbanViking Apr 3, 2013 @ 8:52pm
Ow my brain. Great concept, but needs more: Music, pleasing background textures (instead of just black), possible multiplayer option? Needs to be catching to the eye.
Spagett Apr 3, 2013 @ 10:42am
No sound in the trailer, and I don't want to play 3D Scrabble against a computer. Thank you for at least accurately depicting gameplay, it's a shame it's so BORING.
- dan - Mar 30, 2013 @ 1:13am
multiplayer would be nice
great concept
mutatedwombat  [author] Mar 29, 2013 @ 11:09pm
Due to kindly provided feedback I have started adding a choice of fonts and textures. Ideally I would like to provide a way for players to specify their own custom fonts and textures, if they are sufficiently motivated.
T2RMunchen99 Mar 29, 2013 @ 8:18am
What is the problem with the font. I think it gives the game some charm. But anywho, YES!
WarPigeon Mar 27, 2013 @ 7:13am
Please change the font from papyrus to comic sans. I feed on the tears and anger of font elitists.
von Hötzendorf Mar 26, 2013 @ 11:57pm
Do you even understand what steam is? Its not a frikkin app store.
Cawl Mar 26, 2013 @ 9:16pm
Yeah this game would be okay, but it would cost like 1.99$
AND PLEASE NO PAPYRUS LETTERS!
Youth Worship Explosion Mar 25, 2013 @ 7:00pm
This is the best game on greenlight!
0xtobit Mar 25, 2013 @ 6:47pm
Papyrus hurts my soul.
Celebrimnar Mar 25, 2013 @ 6:30pm
The idea is not bad but the look of the game is terrible. As you say that you will make changes I am saving my vote for later
jcaracc2003 Mar 25, 2013 @ 5:14pm
Upvote in hopes that people actually will make an attempt to improve their vocabulary ;)
toura_mimy Mar 25, 2013 @ 10:20am
I like this kind of games... It should be available on steam
Bloopgun Mar 25, 2013 @ 8:32am
Can't say I would pay for this. Can't say I would even be interested in playing it for free.
Walnuts Mar 25, 2013 @ 6:37am
PLEASE GOD NO PAPYRUS
Press ► Mar 24, 2013 @ 9:23pm
This is the kind of game you get for free on your phone or with windows. Imo it doesn't belong on steam, not even as a play for free.
blckruc47 Mar 24, 2013 @ 5:17pm
Up vote. The kids and I love the concept. I do hope this gets on Steam.
c5 Mar 24, 2013 @ 2:30pm
I do love me some word games. Upvoted.
Fistruler Mar 24, 2013 @ 12:21pm
Looks interesting, just need some makeover. Look at what Thundergrunge said. Upvoted.
mutatedwombat  [author] Mar 24, 2013 @ 11:31am
Thanks everyone for the valuable feedback. I'll definitely make some changes. (My apologies for having the typical artistic talents of a programmer.) Also, I'll look at adding Linux support.
unpronounceable Mar 24, 2013 @ 9:51am
Looks like it will get annoying when blocks are completely surrounded.
Thundergrunge Mar 24, 2013 @ 6:23am
The idea is very good but I think graphics/art could be better.
Think about the font (which is crap) and the colors of the blocks and its edges.
Also: a black background never works.
Create some sort of story how you should beat 'The High King of Grammer', but first you have to beat its minions. Maybe even some RPG elements?

I upvoted this because it has potential but in its current design: no.
Needs improvement. Good luck!
Apiarius Mar 24, 2013 @ 5:06am
You know... I jumped for joy when I saw this project!)
N1tr0 Mar 24, 2013 @ 4:05am
What a crap. WHERE IS LINUX?! %)
Christ Catnap Mar 24, 2013 @ 12:17am
For now I am beat, I was like, "this is one of a hundred 3D Word Solitaires out there" and I was going to list them all, and tell you to take this should have been an App and....

I cannot find another, I fell asleep looking through all those cursed sites, and not one 3D Word Solitaire.

They must be out there... hidden, sneaking around. I just Googled it wrong… yah, that’s it.

You win; my Wife spotted this and was like, "oh, that's neat" and I was like, "doesn't use my bandwidth."

If this is your thing, intellectual property, that is the concept… righteous. But I know that there is little new under this systems sun, even so…

Steam for YOU!!!

NIGGA IF I WANTED TO PLAY SOLATAIRE, I WOULD GO ON MY DAMN IPHONE..
YMI Mar 23, 2013 @ 7:29pm
even in this game, there could be 'zombies'
Spiders Everywhere Mar 23, 2013 @ 4:47pm
Most people probably won't care, but the people that do care...they really, really care.
mutatedwombat  [author] Mar 23, 2013 @ 4:20pm
Well, at least it's not Comic Sans. Still, point taken. I could easily make choice of typeface a user option.
Spiders Everywhere Mar 23, 2013 @ 4:09pm
Are you set on using Papyrus for the typeface? It's...controversial.
mutatedwombat  [author] Mar 23, 2013 @ 4:04pm
Oops. Thanks for pointing that out, Skoardy. Given that it is a word game, there is a degree of irony there.
Skoardy Mar 23, 2013 @ 2:17pm
If the 'cumputer' typo was intentional, it could be seen as a bit... um, risqué.
