Very cute and inspiring graphics, but the perma scrolling burns your game. You should think about a one screen level action, with less enemies (more static- less mario). When i look at your game, i see a outside jungle map at south america, spider holes, indians, spikes, underwater- submarine indoor action etc. only my opinion- Great work so far.

I'm a pretty "veteran" Metroidvania gamer myself, so I look for things no human could possibly deliver and shouldn't discourage you if I didn't buy etc. However, as a design tip: I and probably many other people who enjoy "Metroidvania" games like the exploration aspect and the growth of your character's arsenal and power. I'd need to see more before I can judge. But I encourage you to keep working on it! It's got potential.

Pretty cool that you are making this game with your wife. Upvoted and good luck! If you find the time maybe you could finish it.

I wish I had caught this on Kickstarter - I would have contributed since it looks really AWESOME! I LOVE retro platformers! Still planning to proceed with it? Are you going to relist with Kickstarter? If so, contact me I run a video game website that features cool kickstarter projects like this and would love to help promote it.

I think the game looks rather easy from the video, maybe make it more face paced? And, maybe even a level editor! Everyone loves those.
But I don't WANNA learn my FRCs! Jan 13, 2013 @ 11:44am
As with all decently thought out Metroidvania, I'm interested! You should definitely vary the enemies more though; most of them went down in one hit, and didn't have many interesting attacks.

PLEASE port to Linux. Metroidvania is my heart, Metroidvania is my soul.

reminds me of la-mulana

this looks really good i like the art style, old and retro this would appeal to me as most games at the moment arent based around graphics (such as minecraft, terraria, etc...) but i must say it looks very appealing to me.
BerserkOlaf Jan 5, 2013 @ 12:52am
Between La-Mulana, Spelunky and this, it seems the Henry Jones jr School of Archaeology still has a lot of followers...

I want to see more. For now the video just shows a lot of whipping. With original skills and good level design rewarding exploration, this should be interesting.

Cant wait for this to be out!

Looking :) like the style of the pixel art as well, my only problem is that there dosnt seem to be much to distinguish the concept from any other Metroidvania style game, but im likeing what there is so far :)
