SFM is something I always wanted to give a go, but never could fully understand. I have a pretty decent programming understanding and only basic familiarity with 3d modeling, texturing and everything else that comes with making games/animations. Having a tutorial, espeically from someone whos worked directly with Valve, is something I would rely on to bridge that gap between my not understanding to producing my own work.

What is the point of running a comparison outside of the program?! I thought that was a PART of the program!
Tmoh Mar 30, 2013 @ 6:32am

I animate for a living and always have time to see how someone else goes about it, also nothing wrong with trying to make a few bucks while teaching. :)

mchammond I do have permission to use the rig and many people have purchased the video already. A few were my students, some I am currently working with, and others are working in various other areas of animation. Nit Pick if it was on Youtube then there probably would be an issue with the agreement I have with iAnimate. I have worked extensively in SFM on the TF shorts as well as the Left 4 Dead cinema tics, the goal of the video would be to assist people who are beginning to work with character animation as people move into the animation tools that will be offered here. I agree that it probably shouldn't be in 'software', but that is where they asked me to put it. It would be nice to have a 'tutorials' section. Many people cant afford high price animation schools so videos are a nice gateway forward on the path to doing something you may love as a career.

UUUUUUGGGGHhhhhhh... fucking christ JUST POST IT ON YOUTUBE FOR FREE! A lot of people need some sort of tutorial on how to animate from start to finish. Seriously, I want to animate in a SFM or some other program with a guide. If this video series gets through and it's $599.99; fuck that noise.
mchammond Jan 13, 2013 @ 5:28pm
Do you have permission to use that rig? that rig is for students use only?

You are not allowed to profit from it.
Jason_c_o Jan 13, 2013 @ 1:00am
I don't really see the point in having videos on steam...
quadro4500 Jan 12, 2013 @ 4:03am
Odd being on Steam, youtube is the way.
Superuser Dec 8, 2012 @ 7:33am
Egg-celent! +1 for GNU/Linux support!
Atomsk Nov 30, 2012 @ 7:07pm
While I do like this, I believe 'Tutorials' should have their own place on Steam in their own section. Placing it is 'Software' just seems like a bad idea. Until Steam has a seperate grouping for this focus, I'd have to say no.
Kai Nov 30, 2012 @ 9:50am
Just use youtube, Stupid apps get my downvote
Zable Nov 28, 2012 @ 5:44am
just videos. no place on steam
StevoNDaHoodson Nov 24, 2012 @ 4:35pm

I didn't expect animation tutorials here, but would definitely watch this. Upvote! (Also: Tangled and the TF2 shorts were amazing.)
