Grelod the Horrid.

Descrição
Grelod is so horrid, and so ugly, that it is mindlessly easy to murder her.
And that isn't good.
Murder should be something that isn't so easy to do.
And with that in mind, she is now less ugly (well, a bit less ugly), and if murder is your thing, at least you won't catch anything dreadful from your victim.
For my part, I won't be doing her in.
While she makes it hard for the kids in her charge, she does at least keep them going.
They may hate her now, but one day they may not.
And possibly, as bad as it is, what she is doing may be her best.

Pay attention to the load order of other mods that I use, and that you might like to use, as shown in the datafiles image.
Mess with the order, and Grelod will achieve a whole new quantum of ugliness.
You have been warned.

...eh, her being ugly was never what made it easy to kill her, at least not for me. I wish there was a mod that provided another way to put constance Michel in charge. I want to help the orphans so much but murdering Grelod makes me feel absolutely awful. The alterate route would probably have to be a lot harder than murdering her so that murdering her would be the "easy way out". Like maybe after you gain favor with the Jarl of Riften you'd have to convince her and other influential people in Riften that Grelod shouldn't be in charge and eventually she'd get demoted or kicked out or something? I suppose that'd be a lot harder to make, though. Phooey. Heck, even kidnapping her and leaving her in solitude or something would be an improvement.

lol if it makes you feel any better I curse at my followers for blocking my path or getting in the way of a sword stroke lol. . Now I'm not a killer, and I don't like hitting people... even in real life I would have to do something. Report her, most definitely though you would have to have a recording of said incident. In the game, however, you have no option but to kill her or not complete the quest. Another point: The life of one saves the lives of many. You kill her, the Dark Brotherhood finds you, and you can take them out thereby saving many innocents from being killed by the bidding of people with deep pockets and seldom reasonable purposes. Just saying :) and yes philosophy can pop up in video games despite it appearing strange to discuss.

Maul has lots of other issues. Not least that he doesn't have any idea what those issues are.
Whereas Grelod seems to really like herself, warts and all. None of them are worth a damn.
I just don't like killing anything I don't happen to like much. It's what makes me different from Stalin, Hitler, etc.
Hehe: a philosophical discussion about video game villains :)

shouldn't be easy to murder anyone.... but it doesn't exactly give you the option to take her in. Otherwise I'd take in Maven in... I still can't believe the Imperials put her in charge... the original Jarl is better... albeit naive to what's going on in her court. However with Grelod.... it's not her looks that make it easy to kill her (how can it be easy to murder an old lady?) it's how she talks and treats the kids. Of course wouldn't do it in real life... and as far as their opinion changing with time... Maul doesn't like her either and he's all grown up.... just saying.

Fair point. OK then: wipe her out.

...well it was Skyrim. The law doesn't work that way there as it does here.

I was raised in a county hostel for children, and the staff were a terror to the kids.
It still wasn't a good idea to murder them for it. Tempting, perhaps, but not a valid reason.

It's mindlessly easy to kill 'er because she be a terror to the children. That's no good, matey.

Reminds me of '87 though whenever I do... *whimper*
