A ridiculously violent platform game about being awesome action heroes from the 80s and 90s while slaying satanic terrorists and aliens while unraveling an evil plot to destroy the planet while dealing with being awesome action heroes from the 80s and 90s.

It is best played two player local bro-op (there is no online multiplayer yet).

The brototype demonstrates the kind of combat we are working at, though it lacks the depth, the scale of content and the narrative the final game will include (and a lot else besides).

The final game will feature:
  • Even more destructible terrain!
  • Drastically improved graphics (we love the current look, but we're working on something we love even more).
  • A story filled with revenge and bromance that spans the continents and outer space.
  • Local bro-op play and online multiplayer bro-op as well as deathmatch arenas with leaderboards and rankings.
  • A huge array of unlockable "bros" from the 90s and beyond. Each with distinctive attacks and special brobilities.
  • Vehicular action sequences, dinosaurs, aliens and epic Contra-inspired boss fights.
  • Nuanced and strategic combat, explosive action and deadly stealth.
  • A level editor and the ability to challenge your friends and share your custom levels.
  • Design your own Bro Fort! Build a fortress to weather the terrorist onslaught, or just hang out.
  • Capybaras.
  • Shark Racing.

BROFORCE is being developed at Free Lives, a small South African studio. We're ambitiously aiming to release the game in 2013. We were inspired by the games we've played growing up, Contra, Metal Slug, and the work of Derek Yu (Spelunky) and Vlambeer (Infinite Swat, Super Crate Box). We'd appreciate any feedback we can get. We're trying to make this game for everyone who loves 90s action movies (or just hilarious tactical platformer violence). We are trying to cram in as much awesome as we physically can into this game.

My controllers are not standard XBox controllers, they are an older model. Thrustmaster: Firestorm Dual Power (http://www.amazon.com/Thrustmaster-Fire-Storm-Power-Gamepad/dp/B000056Q1D/ref=sr_1_28?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1369332553&sr=1-28). I have never upgraded them because I have never had a problem with them. Thank you for the quick reply.

@SolidSnakeEyes Are your controllers standard XBox controllers? If not, then which brand are you using. Maybe we can get some and then figure out how to fix it.

Great game. However, I am having some trouble using my controllers. When I hook one up, the game seems to think that the analogue stick is pressing to the left even when it is centered. The menu keeps scrolling and the bros are perpetually running to the left. I tried recalibrating my controllers, and restarting my system, but the problem persists. I would love to use my controllers, but now it is impossible.

this game's alpha was on reddit.com/r/webgames and I was very impressed with the well thought out game design from the range of unique characters to the difficulty curve to the engagement curve to the challenge of the big boss

very much looking forward to this game
