fix for corrupted/deleted save

this is a little workaround using windows file restore option i used when i got message from game that my data has been corrupted, and then deleted.

today my pc overheated and shut down while i was playing ride 2, and when i turned it back on and started ride 2, i got message that my data has been corrupted and i either can retry loading data (which never works) or delete data. so i had no option but to delete it. 85 hours of gameplay gone. all bikes, credits, tokens, career progression, everything. also i have seen many people complaining about corrupted save file on the forums, so i decided to create this guide.
luckily, windows 7/8/8.1/10 have options to restore previous versions of file, so here is how to do it:

close your ride 2 game. locate your ride 2 save file, which should be in
C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Roaming\Milestone. here you will see ride 2 folder. right click on it, select properties, and under properties previous versions tab. here you should see previous versions of a folder, select the most recent one and click restore. this will overwrite your corrupted save file with the one you selected from previous versions option. please note that this might not be the save from couple of hours ago, but hey, it's better to loose couple of hours of gameplay than 50 or more hours of gameplay. when you have done that, launch ride 2 from steam. if you have steam cloud enabled, steam will give you 2 options: to download files from cloud to your pc (this is corrupted save), or to upload your save file from pc to steam cloud. you must choose the 2nd option, because it will upload the old save file which you just salvaged using previous versions option, to the steam cloud, and replace the corrupted one. ride 2 will now launch. that's it, no more error messages should pop up, and you should have your bikes, credits, and progression back.

this method should work with any game, all you have to know is save file location.

i never encountered that problem, perhaps you can revert ride 2 install folder to older version? just guessing..

do you also have a fix for "your game file has been modified please return to original" without downloading the whole game over again

This will only work for those who have the Windows Restore Point feature turned on. If you had ever disabled it then you would find that there ARE no previous versions of the folder to revert to.
