Hello and welcome to this guide that will show you most of the skips, glitches and techniques that are useful to speedrun Payday 2.

Please note that in no way this guide is meant to show you strategies, tricks or shortcuts specific to maps as they really depend on you or can be easily found in other guides and videos, nor it is advertising the use of glitches and exploits outside of speedrunning purposes.


Like the title suggests, this guide will be composed of three main parts:
  • skips: all bugs that allow you to break the heist's intended objective order;
  • glitches: all bugs that make you save some time in your run, without necessarily making you skip objectives;
  • techniques: those aren't glitches per se, but rather about exploiting the game's mechanics to save time.

Glitches are sorted by alphabetical order of heist. Moreover, the title of glitches that are no longer achievable on the current version of the game will be written in italics.
Also, unless specifically mentioned, all of these glitches are deemed as major skips on speedrun.com's leaderboards.

Each section contains if possible the life span of the glitch, a video of a run using the said glitch in action or just a showcase of the glitch, then a quick written walkthrough of how you can realize the glitch.


This list isn't exhaustive and some glitches may be left out or subjectively sorted in the list. However almost all glitches used in runs submitted to speedrun.com will be here, and some extra glitches may be added as well.

The Big Bank - Out of Bounds
Life span: Update #30 - Update #30.3

This skip is just a classic OoB (out of bounds, which means that you leave the playable area thanks to bugs or a breach in the map collision mask most of the time), and the first one of a long series.

Basically, you jump through the ceiling of the bank, go freely behind the vault, grab some bags through the walls, secure them. The end.

Just as simple as fast. And as quickly fixed.

How to realize

You need to buy the elevator escape.

At the start of the map, mask up immediately and go to the management corridor upstairs.

From there you'll have to do some parkour by jumping on plant pots to reach the bookshelves on the right.
Then jump a bit more against the wall to start escaping from the level. You can now jump from a lamp to another to enter the second part of the bank.

Once you're there you should be able to walk on the invisible ceiling of the rooms below safely.
Just keep walking along the left walls until you reach the little balcony from where tans usually spawn in loud, then pass through a wall and fall to the vault level, without falling inside the vault nor off the map.

You are now able to bag loot through the walls and throw them directly to the parking. If they fall off the map, they will respawn on the solid floor right above so don't worry.

Now it is your turn to fall off the map too, jump to the parking lot so that you respawn there.

All you need to do to complete the map is breaching the elevator door so that you trigger the fact that loot can be secured in the van, then securing your bags.
The Biker Heist - Skipping Fetching Phases
Life span: Update #102 - Update #105.2

The Biker Heist is very similar to Hoxton Breakout. Indeed Mike the mechanic asks you to accomplish 3 tasks for him that make you run across the level, with one defense phase after each task.

Sometimes he'll ask you to get a chrome skull for Rust's bike, which is located in a non-Titan safe in a room behind a metal door in the Bikers' house, which can only be opened with a blowtorch.

However that door used to be pickable at any time if you possess the lockpicking skill.
That means that with this skill and some C4, you can get the chrome skull before Mike asks you to retrieve it, if he even asks you to do so.

You can give him the skull whenever you want, and that skips the current task phase even if he didn't ask you to find the skull.

IN MULTIPLAYER ONLY: The person who picks the skull shall not be the host. Indeed host can give ghost skulls at the truck as long as someone still carries the true skull, and they DO count to complete a fetching phase.
So in the end you can complete the heist without ever untying the mechanic, which is a huge time saver. Works better with the second occurence of the glitch right below, as you don't have to lockpick the door for 45 whole seconds. Here you'd better complete one objective then use phantom skulls for the last two.

How to realize

Get the Nimble skill and lockpick the door, which can be either downstairs or upstairs. For maximum efficiency do it during a defense phase as the interaction is 45s long, and use C4 on the safe since it isn't a Titan one even on DW.

Then depending on the objectives you get, either give Mike the skull when he asks for it - don't forget to take his blowtorch afterwards otherwise he may glitch a bit -, either give him the skull to totally skip an annoying task like the garage.

Be careful! If you give him the skull to skip another phase, then he wants you to get the skull, you'll be softlocked and you'll have to restart the heist!
Also, giving him the skull during a defense phase doesn't skip the next task.

Using ghost skulls (only works in multiplayer), host can spam give a ghost skull without consuming the one carried by a client, which means you can instantly skip a fetching phase and trigger the following defense phase. It is way faster with the second version of that glitch, below.
The Biker Heist - Skipping Fetching Phases 2: Electric Boogaloo
Life span: Update #134 - Update #143

This section's title is barely a joke, as the sequence break here is exactly the same as the one above.

There is only a slight difference that makes it actually more efficient than last time it appeared: this time you don't have to lock pick the door for 45s, as interaction is instant!
It's better for both solo and multiplayer players now since they can save 45s at the start and directly trigger defense phases without having to wait for the mechanic or even untying him.
Solo players can always be one objective ahead from the game, and multiplayer players can now skip more efficiently all phases thanks to ghost skulls from the very start (before you'd have to still complete the first fetching phase as it still was faster than lockpicking the door for 45s).

This reappearance was caused by changes to how lockpicking works.

How to realize

Same as above skip. You want the door to spawn downstairs to save more time at the start. Unlock it first, grab the skull and either give it to the truck then free the mechanic if you are solo, either have the host give ghost skulls forever if you are in multiplayer.
Birth of Sky - Out of Bounds
Life span: Update #91 - Update #98

This OoB took a long time to be found but it lets you complete the heist in 2 minutes.

All you have to do is going to the diner as soon as possible, and run against a certain couch and table.
Eventually you'll fall through a little hole in the map's collision and you'll be able to fall off the map and respawn in the sewers, at the rubber boat part.

Then run to the escape, the escape zone is here and Locke is already waiting for you.

How to realize

This glitch is really hard to explain so I guess that two more videos will be more helpful than words.
Basically just walk backwards and diagonally once you are on the couch, eventually you should fall.

Atomic Waste
First World Bank - Out of Bounds
Life span: Update #84 - Update #105.2?

Another OoB that hasn't been exploited in a speedrun yet, because like Birth of Sky's it is quite hard to perfectly reproduce and it is useless for solo runs.

In one of the manager offices, you can clip through a wall thanks to a hole between a couch (again) and a plant pot.

From there you can roam out of the map and bypass a lot of objectives. You can even see the Overdrill gold.

Once you are there, one player can go directly to the escape and trigger the garbage truck's arrival (you need to start from the corridor right before the end otherwise the driver won't come).
However you still need to secure the mission bags.

That's why another player can jump directly to the vault, fall out of the map, respawn into the vault or in the pre-vault area if you don't want to go loud (since you have to wait for cops to open the doors for you once inside otherwise).
The player basically bypasses the gate to the pre-vault area, however they can't come back so they have to go into custody to complete the heist thanks to the first player.

How to realize

Just watch the video above. It really is very detailed.

Go to the management corridor and enter the office on the right.
Jump on the plant pot and fall in the corner near the couch.

Once there, spam jump and you'll eventually clip through the wall.
Golden Grin Casino - Getting the Keycard Early
Life span: Update #70 - Update #71

As you know, the Golden Grin Casino is an interesting map in stealth which features a lot of objectives that require moving across the map.

One of the main goals though, is getting the keycard from a gambler to enter his room and spread sleeping gas in the security room through the vent.
To do so, you normally have to go in the archives, find the casino's plans, fax them to Bain, hack a computer to find the list of the casino residents, identify the right gambler, find his favorite alcohol, spill poisoned alcohol in his glass, then follow him to the toilets to FINALLY obtain his card.

However the gamblers also used to spawn next to their room, on second floor. Thus you could just rush to him at the start of the map and kill him to get the keycard. Then Bain would gently give you the number of his room to use the sleeping gas.
It made you skip half the objectives of the map.

How to realize

As explained, all you need to do is going to the hotel rooms on second floor and kill the gambler there.

Be careful as there are roaming guards, civilians and cameras.
Golden Grin Casino - Bypassing The Sleeping Gas (Overkill and lower)
Life span: Update #70 - Still going

In a classic run, you have to make the guards in the security room asless by deploying sleeping gas in the casino's vent.

You cannot access the security room before because a camera that is too high to be looped is watching the door and sounds the alarm if you open the door anyway. It is only disabled once all guards inside the security room are asleep, and it is still active even if you killed the guards inside.
On DW it is a Titan cam so you can't do anything against it.
On OVK and lower though you can break it, so that's one less issue.

However inside the security room, there are 5 guards! That's more than 4 pagers, so it is also a dead end, right?

That's were you can use the pager juggling technique explained in the Techniques section.

Answer 4 pagers and have 2 players juggle with the last one, while the other 2 do objectives, look for code digits, disable the lasers and enter the code.

Once the vault is open you can stop juggling if you want and go loud, but not before.

Also do not try to ECM rush as ECMs disable the code reader for a long time.

How to realize

Start the heist normally, get your equipment and mask up.

Then rush to the security room at the back of the casino without getting spotted, break the camera looking at the door, open it and kill all guards.

Answer 4 pagers and juggle with the 5th (to know how to juggle, check the appropriate section below).

Then players who aren't juggling have to complete the remaining objectives to open the vault in stealth, and all without using ECMs.
They have to hack the computer to disable the lasers and find the three digits of the code to finally enter it in the code reader.

These objectives can be done in no particular order, so you can even look for digits before entering the security room, for example you can get the code in the VIP room (if you bough Annie) on your way to the security room.
Golden Grin Casino - Out of Bounds
Life span: Update #70 - Update #128

An OoB discovered by The Ended Hours Team.

Similarly to the OoB on First World Bank, this one involves a planter and a sofa again.

Get into the manager's office at the back of the Casino, the one where a safe cointaining a digit for the code is located behing a painting.
Right on your left when you enter the room, you should notice a sofa with two planters next to each side. The right planter is the closest to the entrance, and the sofa as well.

Jump onto the planter, face the sofa and crouch-walk towards it. You can eventually fall out of the map through a small collision gap.
It may require repeated attempts to get it working.

Once you are falling you can strafe across the level. More details to access the vault below.

How to realize

The steps to reproduce the OoB are explained in this post written by the discoverers of the OoB themselves.

The goal is reaching a platform near the pool area from where there is a hole that allows direct access to the vault.

It also includes a possible but longer route to enter the vault in multiplayer from this point.

You can access the vault solo if you have all solo speed boosts: Second Wind, Yakuza with low health, Running From Death, Parkour. Just jump in the hole near the pool area with all speed boosts and head towards the vault. In multiplayer it is even easier and a lot of RNG is removed (you get inspired instead of Feign Death when you down yourself for Running From Death).

You'll take lethal fall damage when you respawn in the vault, so make sure you can be revived there (Feign Death doesn't work, so use Stockholm in solo as there is no cop to use Messiah).
Hotline Miami Day 1 - Out of Bounds
Life span: Update #37 - Update #67/68

This one is a OoB a lot of people know: the landshark glitch.

Basically all you need is going in one of the room on ground floor, for example room 101, then run-crouch into the corner or the window sill. Woosh, you're under the ground and can shoot cops from there.

What people don't usually know though is that by fiddling around you can actually even manage to enter the basement.

When you're there, the first gate doesn't even spawn and all you have to do is grab a crowbar and start opening crates. No cops spawn either.
It skips the objective directly to the location research part, and if you wait for a little while, Bain eventually tells you the right location. Even though you are speedrunners, so you don't want to wait for so long, just put a random barcode and pray.

Notice that since the hatch is still closed, you can escape so you need to disconnect or kill yourself and let another player escape and complete the heist.

How to realize

There are multiple techniques to realize the glitch, but either way you need to be in one of the ground floor rooms.

You can run and crouch into the corner towards the wall, spam crouch in the corner, move towards the window sill then crouch, all of these techniques require practice but they work.

Once you are underground, you need to fall near the hatch stairwall, without falling out of the map otherwise you respawn at the highest location above, aka not in the basement.

You need to land slightly under the ground of the basement, while crouching, then if you walk forward and spam jump you might be able to be pushed away and pass through the ground, thus allowing you to enter the basement.
Slaughterhouse - Skipping Container Lifting Phases
Life span: Update #87 - Update #109.1

This skip could almost be deemed as an OoB but you don't exactly leave the playable area.

Basically, you can jump onto the first container that is lifted to the escape when the crane grabs it. That way you can directly go to the escape just by staying on the container.

Since the container with the gasoline you have to set on fire to trigger the escape zone spawns right at the beginning of the map and isn't the same as the one you are standing on, you can escape without even having to lift the second container.

How to realize

You first have to activate the crane, then jump onto the red container behind the blue container where you dropped gasoline.

You absolutely need to be at the side of the blue container and not in front of it.
Sometimes you can't jump on the red container because it is blocked by other containers. In that case, restart the heist.
To access the red container you can jump from another container nearby or climb crates and barrels then jump onto hit if the height is enough to do so.

Once you are there, wait until the crane grabs the blue container, then run and jump onto. You need to do it when the crane hook grabs the container but before it starts lifting the container off.
Aim the right of the crane hook when you jump (the right of the big circular metal thing with hazard colors).
After your jump keep walking forwards without jumping, you should manage to stay on the container. After a little while you'll actually walk through the crane hook and be at ease.

Just stay there, you should soon see the escape area. You can jump directly to there but fall damage there is lethal so you need a strat to get back up.
All you need to do when you land is setting the gasoline in the other blue container there on fire. The escape zone will appear and you can complete the heist.
Transport: Train - Hard Drive Duplication
Life span: Update #57 - Still going

This is a mission item duplication exploit. For more info about this technique, check the appropriate section below.
This one is considered as a skip because it radically changes the heist.

Normally, when you do Transport: Train in stealth, you have to open at least 2 vaults to get the turret and its shells.
However you can only open one at a time thanks to a hard drive that you can get at your spawn.

In multiplayer, you can duplicate that hard drive to open even the 3 vaults at the same time.

Also, sometimes the hack is interrupted and you have to rewire some boxes in the level.
When all vaults are opening at the same time, some hacks may be interrupted at the same time as well.
However just rewiring one box restarts all hacks. That means that if you can open 2 boxes at the same time, lockpick them but only rewire one box.
That way you can keep the extra one for the next time a hack is interrupted and thus save time since you won't have to lockpick it first.
This trick works because all boxes may need to be rewired only once in the heist.

How to realize

Just duplicate the hard drive with other players. You need as many hard drives as vaults you want to open.
Explanations about how to duplicate a mission item below.
Glitches
Aftershock - Bile's Escape Helicopter Coming Earlier
Life span: Update #91 - Update #94

In a normal playthrough, once you have set off the flare, Bile comes with his escape helicopter and arrives 3 minutes later to pick you, the truck and the safes up.

Update #91 however introduced a very interesting glitch: instead of having to wait for Bile for 3 whole minutes, he would arrive immediately at the construction yard.
It means that you can save 3 long minutes of your run for free.

The even better thing is that the glitched occurred every time so you didn't have to trigger it yourself by other means.
That is also the reason why it has been patched so fast - if one month later is fast - as the glitch affected everyone and broke the difficulty and payout balance of the map.

How to realize

Just play the heist normally, this glitch will happen no matter what happens.

Assuming you are playing on the right version of the game.
The Alesso Heist - Escaping Before The Helicopter Arrives
Life span: Update #68 - Still going

When you play The Alesso Heist, you can play either in loud or in stealth.
In the former case, Bile arrives after a little while near the pyro booth to allow you to secure the money bags then escape.
In the latter case, you secure all bags in stealth through a vent, then there is an ellipse when you unmask and have to join the van at the entrance of the stadium, walking and avoiding guards in a civilian maze.

If you get detected during the unmasked phase, the heist goes loud and you have to wait a few minutes before Bile arrives with his chopper, while Twitch just drives away with the van.

However, the heist goes loud after securing all bags in stealth mode but before unmasking, you can run directly where Bile is supposed to drop his red escape container near the pyro booth.
If you are a bit slow you may see him directly here, however most of the time he hasn't even arrived and you can escape by jumping into a floating ghost escape zone.

That basically makes you save some time, if you decided to stealth the heist.

How to realize

The alarm has to be raised after securing all mission bags in stealth through the vent, but before unmasking; so don't interact with the intercom.

Instead, secure your last bag and run upstairs to the pyro booth. The heist has to go loud before you reach it if you don't want to lose time so alert the entire map by tossing a grenade or shooting an unsilenced weapon.

Once you arrive you should see a floating escape zone. Just jump on it just like you would jump inside the container, from the small counters nearby.
After a few seconds the heist will end.
Boiling Point - Out of Bounds
Life span: Update #97 - Update #109.1

This is probably the only OoB you'll find in the glitch section rather than the skip section.
The reason for that is quite simple: it doesn't let you skip a single objective.

Why is it a major skip then? Well because obviously it is an OoB thus an exploit, and also because it allows you to enter the lab before the EMP has been set off.

That way you can freely roam in the lab without any enemy, find the briefcase and the keycard earlier, already bag a corpse and put the body bag on the scanner, and find the gas or the leader scientist.

So while you can't avoid objectives, you still save a lot of time and worries.

Again, be careful, you have to complete all the previous objectives if you want to complete the heist. That means the EMP has to detonate.
If it can't detonate for whatever reason - you're playing solo and cops disabled it for example - and you are in the lab, you are softlocked and have to restart the heist.

Also, once you are in the lab, you can't interact with the gas/hand and the scanner yet, you have to wait until the EMP detonates.
Since there is a "Get down into the labs" objective right before these interactions, you need to be upstairs near the hatch then run to the labs after the EMP detonates. Otherwise the objective will be stuck.
That will make the interactable mission objectives appear, but enemies and civilians will spawn as well in the process.


Boiling Point speedrun using the glitch, realized by Salem (skip to 2:45)



How to realize

Again, this OoB is quite hard to explain.

First, after activating the EMP and making sure it won't be deactivated, run to that little cliff on the left side when you come from the lumber-mill (it literally is the thumbnail of the video).

Once there, walk to the right to gain some height until you can no longer move, then go back to the left walking against the cliff, without jumping unless it doesn't work. You should have elevated a bit further if it worked.
Go to the right a last time once you did that, then spamjump against the cliff. You should be able to climb it.

After you managed to climb the top of the cliff, head to the lumber-mill and jump onto the yellow containers - be careful not to fall between both of them.
Jump from the container, behind the small wall. If you fall in front of it, you failed and you have to walk through the mountain at the right to fall off the map and respawn somewhere else, then try again.

If you did it go near the electric fence that the EMP is supposed to disable, you should see the labs.
All you need to do now is falling through the hole to land on top of the main stairwell in the lab, near the hatch and the dark corridor with red lights, unlike what I did in the video.

Don't forget to go back there when the EMP is done to activate the "Get down into the labs" objective.
Firestarter - Bag Duplication on Day 1
Life span: Early development - Update #67? (post-update #52)

This one is just some basic bag duplication, that you may have experienced already in casual games.

Unlike mission items, bags are hard coded and can't be duped by players picking them at the same time, at least under normal circumstances.
However sometimes bags register twice when thrown in the secure zone.

On Firestarter D1, people have found a way to reproduce that duplication. So it effectively makes you need only half the bags, and thus save half the time.

How to realize

While carrying a weapon bag, head to the van and crouch right in front of it.

Aim slightly above the van and throw the bag. It should be registered once when you throw it, then hit the van and fall at its back being registered a second time.

Really easy to reproduce.
Shadow Raid - Bag Duplication
Life span: Update #29 - Update #67

Yet another instance of bag duplication.
This time it isn't the van's fault but rather the dumpster's. Quite conveniently since the warehouse one is used for ECM rushes.

Once again if you precisely throw your bag a certain way, it gets registered once, then hit the edge of the dumpster and is registered a second time while falling into it.

How to realize

Open the dumpster and aim at the top left corner of the opening, then throw the bag.
You can use the bricks of the wall as landmarks to help you. You should aim approximatively at the center of the brick behind the dumpster.

If done properly the bag will be stuck on the edge of the opening then fall and be registered twice.
Watchdogs - Making Escape Arrive Even Before The Secure Truck
Life span: Update #? - Still going

Twitch's escape truck spawns at the beginning of the map way outside of the playable area, at the corner of a street on the left when you spawn.

With an extremy precise grenade or rocket shot with a GL or a RPG though, you can kill him immediately.

Before, he would still arrive once you secured 4 coke bags, but then his truck would display a unique barrel animation and crash the game.
It has since been fixed and now it just triggers the helicopter escape just like if he dies in a normal playthrough.

Except that now, you killed him so early that the helicopter and the escape zone arrive before the truck where you secure coke even arrives itself.

Be careful! While you can already escape even without having secured 4 bags, you should never do that.
Indeed you'll spawn on day 2 with absolutely no bag even if you secured 3 on day 1 and you'll be totally softlocked.
So don't forget to always secure at least 4 bags as usual.

How to realize

For this glitch, images are better than words because the grenade launch is extremely precise, so watch the above video and pause at 1:03.

You need to aim between the power cables.
All Maps - Minigun Superspeed
Life span: Update #79 - Update #83

***THIS GLITCH IS NOT A MAJOR SKIP***

The Vulcan Minigun used to have a 40% movement speed penalty, so it was probably the worst choice for a speedrunner.

Thankfully it had some weapon mods that reduced that movement penalty to 20% at the cost of accuracy and total ammo.

However Crimefest 2015 weapon rebalance happened and Overkill decided to buff the Minigun by enabling ammo pickup for it and removing the movement penalty.

What they did forgot though was removing the movement buff from the Minigun's mods.

In the end just equipping the Minigun increased your movement speed by 20%.

Techniques
Kicking
Life span: Host Your Own Games

Probably something you experienced a lot in public games, this technique is about kicking guys that are far from the escape while host is standing on it.

It can help you saving time on maps where completing the last objective requires only one man and activates the escape zone, where you can already go beforehand.

Good examples for that method are Bank Heist: Deposit where looting the ATM triggers the escape, Firestarter Day 3 with the camera, and Ukrainian Job with the tiara.

However this technique is considered as a major skip, as the team at the end isn't the same as the team at the beginning.
Unlike the following technique that does the same thing but isn't a major skip, at the cost of a need for preparations.

How to realize

Be the host and just hit Escape, "Kick player" and choose the name of your victim who will sacrifice themself to complete the last objective. Kick them once it has been completed.

I know you've done it hundreds of times before.

Oh and of course, don't create a Vote Kick/Kick disabled lobby.
Suicide
Life span: AAAAAAHHHH I NEEEEED A MEDIC BAG

***THIS TECHNIQUE IS NOT A MAJOR SKIP***

The goal is the same as the previous kicking technique, except that this time this isn't a major skip.

The player who will complete the last objective has to kill themself or be killed by their team mates so that they are in black and white state (last down).
Then once they have completed it, they have to kill themself to end up in custody while other players are waiting on the escape zone.

To realize this technique, explosive weapons and molotovs are highly suggested.
Weapons like a Piglet or a RPG will do wonders to kill yourself.

Just be careful not to kill any team mate while you down yourself beforehand.

How to realize

You need to down yourself 3 times (4 times with Nine Lives) to be in black and white which means you only have one down left.

Just fire a grenade/rocket at your feet with a GL/RPG once you have completed the last objective.

If you have low enough health (which will be the case on DW) you will instantly die and go into custody.
Make sure you don't have a lot of armor, for example if you use Anarchist, because you may survive the damage.
Slow-motion
Life span: Forever

***THIS TECHNIQUE IS NOT A MAJOR SKIP***

This one is probably the best trick in Payday 2 speedruns.

Indeed, when you get downed or equip your mask near a guard, you enter a slow-motion state that also affects your timer for the heist.
However it doesn't sync with other clients who still can accomplish objectives and interact in the meantime.

That means that for example (these are made numbers) they could do a 6s interaction in 2s on your timer.

Payday 2 speedrun times are determined by checking the timer of the host in the end-game crew stats.
Thus, by downing the host on purpose, this time can be greatly decreased, and be used to complete the map faster thanks to the "faster" interactions.

This technique is so famous and useful that it was used by a team at the Summer 2016 Dreamhack Payday 2 Tournament, who established a new official WR by a big margin
That even forced the other teams to use the slow-mo technique in their own runs too, then later forced Overkill to counter the use of this technique in tournaments by adding a down time penalty.

This technique has some flaws though, as it requires a lot of preparations and coordination. Someone has to constantly get the host up.
Also it uses a lot of med bag charges because otherwise host would end up in custody.
It barely works on hacks and drills because the timer has to sync with host's time, and because of that, you can see as a client that the drill is done, yet the door doesn't open.
Finally it kind of works in solo but it is really unreliable.

How to realize

As a host, chain kill yourself and get revived by a team mate or a skill. If you are black and white, use a medic bag.

You need to do this while your team mates interact with objectives to optimize your run.
Item Duplication
Life span: Forever

***THIS TECHNIQUE IS NOT A MAJOR SKIP***

I assume everyone knows this glitch by now, so I won't be long.

Due to desync in multiplayer, if two players or more try to interact with a pickable item at the very same time, it is duplicated and all of them get this item.

There are some things to know about duplication.

It doesn't work properly on some hard coded elements like loot bags or chemical ingredients. You won't be able to duplicate them under normal circumstances. You would need frame-perfect timing to do so.

It works perfectly with both instant interactions (keycards, crowbars, thermal paste, etc.) and hold interactions (blowtorches, hard drives, files, etc.). All you need is pressing the interaction key at the same time.

It can work on all interactions even if you don't pick everything, often for the worst (applying thermal paste at the same time in Birth of Sky's sewers on the first grid consumes both pastes and you don't have one anymore for the second grid, so you are softlocked).

It is also possible to undupe some elements, mostly chemicals if you try to pick them too fast, or if you add them at the same time as someone else. Or also thermal paste with the example above.

Mission item duplication thus lets you to complete objectives much faster.

However some duplications can be considered as a major skip depending of the nature of the item.
If you dupe keycards on Hoxton Breakout D2, it isn't a major skip since you don't really save time. You could just find another keycard after all.
If you dupe the blowtorch on Beneath the Mountain, you can melt the gate faster but it isn't a major skip.
However, duping the hard drive on Transport: Train IS a major skip, because it breaks the map's logic by allowing you to open several vaults at the same time.

Bag duping is always a major skip even if you don't save time.

How to realize

Decide with your crew of the time at which you'll all start the interaction. Try not to anticipate as you'll likely fail if you do so.

If for some desync reason someone's timer doesn't match other people's timer, let the host start a countdown since everything in the run and the game is synchronized with their time.
Pager Juggling
Life span: Forever

***THIS TECHNIQUE IS NOT A MAJOR SKIP***

This technique is another one well-known by stealth players.

When you answer a pager and release the interaction button before it is complete, the operator sounds the alarm.

However, if someone still is answering, you can freely release the interaction.

That way, you can define pager juggling: players keep exchanging their role to answer the pager.

It requires a lot of coordination but virtually allows you to answer 1/2 more pagers at the cost of 2/3 players in the game, while other player(s) can still complete objectives freely.

How to realize

Juggling with one pager (2 players):
  • Player A starts answering the pager
  • When the interaction is nearly done, Player B starts answering
  • Player A releases the interaction
  • When the interaction is nearly done, Player A starts answering
  • Player B releases the interaction
  • Repeat as long as you want

That's because this guide hasn't been updated for nearly 2 years, Captain Bublo is working on it right now.
Besides, I do know that area to go out of bounds but to be fair it kinda sucks and is unreliable to get - in fact I think I've only seen console players managing to get it right, it's been fixed for a while. Anyway it would be irrelevant as in 2018 I (and MasterXdX) found 2 major ways to go out of bounds on this map to get in and out the vault area, allowing me to get a roughly 4mn run on OD difficulty.

there is another fvvb oob its at the left side from the first room. if you run and jump many times against the bookshelf corner (left side of the bookshelf) you can get oob

Thanks for the comment. I do know that strat, it is actually used along with kicking/custody. However I didn't include it because it is a map specific trick that neither is a bug or a sequence break.

not sure how up to date this guide is but in the newest version when you play the bank and get either random deposit boxes or choose the deposit boxes you can grab money lying around at the tellers area after you have drilled and entered the vault. It´s only gonna save a second or so I guess but still faster then sawing a box and having bad RNG and only postcards or something :carol:
