Description
Are you as big of a Wing Commander fan as I am? Sad that carriers kind of suck because all your fighters are unwilling to get into a single hairball? Well, this fixes that.

This mod allows fighters to fly out and engage their targets as long as their carriers have engaged the enemy.

I don't have an idea where to start. Plus, my modding is on hiatus until I have a more stable position.

I recently had an issue with fighter behaviour in the stock game. When maxing the range on battleship weapons and dreadnaught weapons my fighters ended up going sideways at a right angle to the vector to the target until my ships got significantly closer to the enemy. Then they swung around and finally engaged.

However given the extreme ranges of some of the battleship weapons this usually meant they came in just in time to mop up the end of the battle almost all the time.

I assume they simply don't have the propper engagement range for some reason
Even using this mod did not fix that.

Could you look into that please?

I haven't looked at the files, but playing with the patch makes me think that the carrier fixes, which I made are no longer needed.

So do strike craft have a longer or shorter range when compared to 1.1.0?

Ah, thanks for clarifying, I mistook the range for where they start closing to engage from, thanks for sorting me out.

If I recall correctly, 8 is the range of the weapons on the strike craft themselves. If I increase that value they just fire from further away, which looks a bit ridiculous.

it still says that the strike craft only have a range of 8 on the tooltip, is that just the tooltip not updating?

as of hotfix 1.0.3 the launcher says this is incompatable

FYI, In case anyone else was wondering what /exactly/ the mod changes:
common/ship_behaviors/00_strike_craft.txt

return_to_formation_distance = 150 #vanilla 15

for both bombers and fighters.
