How to Remove Stuttering

If you experience input lag and/or intense stuttering when running the game in fullscreen, this is how to fix it.

Intro

For those of you who have purchased the game, you've probably experienced some massive stuttering issues when running the game in fullscreen. It was relatively easy to figure out what the culprit was, since there was mouse lag in the menu, and the frame rate was capped at 60 FPS - vsync. The game has it enabled by default, with no way of turning it off in-game.

There are a couple of methods to deal with this. Both, equally simple.

Method 1:

Edit Game Configuration File

- To put it simply, right click on Men of Valor within your game library and choose "Properties"
- Next, navigate to the "LOCAL FILES" tab, and click on "BROWSE LOCAL FILES..."
- A window of the games installation directory should pop up
- Click on the "SYSTEM" folder towards the bottom
- Scroll down a small amount until you find the "MenofValor.exe" application file
- Directly underneath that .exe file, should be a configuration file with the same name, open that with notepad
- Hold CTRL-F to open the search window, or alternatively, click 'Edit' at the top of the window, and click on 'Find'
- Type "vsync" (without quotes) into the search box and hit enter, or click 'Find Next.'
- It should bring you to a line that looks like - UseVSync=True
- Simply change it to false so it looks like - UseVSync=False
- Save and exit, and enjoy playing the game stutter free.

Method 2:

NVIDIA Control Panel

- This one is equally as simple, right-click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel
- Once open, in the left side navigation list, choose at the top left "Manage 3D Settings"
- In the main window, select the "Program Settings" tab
- In the drop down list, labelled "1. Select a program to customize" find Men of Valor:Vietnam (if it's not there, click "Add" and manually search for the .exe application file
- Once selected, in the section below labelled "2. Specify the settings for this program" scroll down to the bottom
- "Vertical sync" should be the second from the bottom option available, click on that and choose "Off"
- Click "Apply" and you're done!

Final Thoughts

As for AMD users, I assume the same can be done within Catalyst, but being I have no experience with AMD cards as of late, I cannot offer help in that regard. Using method 1 should be ideal for everyone regardless of graphics card. With vsync disabled, the game will be uncapped and running very smooth. I top out at 450+ FPS.

If you can't stand the screen tearing (if you have any, or it is bothersome) you can try using vsync from the actual control panels (NVIDIA & AMD) which will usually enable it without the dreaded stuttering or mousing inconsistency issues. Enabling 'Triple buffering,' and reducing 'Maximum pre-rendered frames' to "1" will usually do away with a significant chunk of mouse input lag with vsync enabled.

For anyone wanting to change FOV, go to the exact same location as listed in Method 1, hit this combo [CTRL + F], and type fov and press enter. You will see this line "FovAngleDegrees=".
After "=", type your desired value. I don't know what the max is, but being an Unreal engine game, most likely 130 degrees.
