A quick guide on how to get a map of the game world inside the game for quick viewing.

I recently found the Map Image via google which showed loot locations for the game which I thought was a brilliant idea, after doing some more googling I discovered it was from a guide created for steam by dep7777777, nice work bud.

I have taken the idea of this and made a short guide to so you how you can get your very own map like this in game for easy access, I have created a new blank map so that you can all edit the file locally and add your own markers as the game is still under development and the map often changes a lot of the markers from dep777777's map are now out of date.

I have also set the image size such that when pressing F1 and looking at the current world x,y,z those values will translate perfectly by pixel into the image with 0,0 being the middle of the map as indicated via the positional numbers along the side and top, this will help you position your markers more accurately.

If the games development continues to improve and the need arises it will be easily possible to create an online dynamic version of this map for people to contribute and share their markers and have this all saved locally or downloaded and saved for use in game.

Installing The Map

We need to find your local Subnautica screenshots folder location, an example of where mine is stored is listed bellow but your's might be installed in a different location, should be easy enough for you to find tho.

D:\games\Steam\steamapps\common\Subnautica\SNAppData\SavedGames\slot0000\screenshots

Now simply

• If you have mroe than one saved game and are unsure which one to use, Go in game and Press F11 or what ever your screen shot button is taking a screenshot of something you will easily recognise..
  
• Now in your screen shots folder look for the picture you just took.
  
• Now copy the image bellow or download the map from the link bellow saving into the folder where your screen shot was found.
  
• Now load your game, place a picture frame and set the map as the desired image..

PLEASE NOTE

The image map in the download link bellow gets updated any time I make a change, the image on display bellow this will only update on major changes, so its better to grab this download link rather than the one thats on display bellow.

This will work on any version of Subnautica, no matter what store you bought it from. If you bought it from the Epic Games Store, the game directory should (by default) be located at C:\Program Files\Epic Games\Subnautica
