Tired and Injured - Conditional Attribute Auto Regen

Description
This mod adds challenge to Skyrim by removing the auto health regeneration, and making stamina and magicka regeneration conditional. More specifically, magicka will only naturally regenerate when "rested," and stamina will stop regenerating when health falls below 20% (when the injured indicators appear, ie, heartbeat sounds and blurred vision). Regen potions, enchanted armor and clothing, and standing stone effects still work as intended.

This mod adds a survival element to Skyrim, without affecting other gameplay mechanics, and while staying compatible with most other mods (just remember to place at the bottom of your load order to guarantee its effects). Now you will have to actually prepare for your adventures, as the game can become very difficult very quickly if you find yourself unrested and injured without any back up potions or food. Wearing the proper clothing for your chosen playstyle also becomes more important, and the value of certain standing stones becomes accentuated (Hint: The lover stone and apprentice stone will become more important for magicka users, while the lady stone will become more important for warrior types and stamina users).

Aug. 8th 2012 - Made health and magicka naturally regenerate while sitting or using props. Also removed the healing and flames starting spells and added them to the dark elf and imperial races. Now works for vampires as intended.

March 30th, 2014 - Increased time before tired (16 hours after last slept), and separated its condition from the Rested perk. Made sitting (or using props) only restore health (and no longer magic) to just aboive 20% max - just enough to get the low health sounds to go away and remove the injured effect. You may have to start a new game to experience these chamges.

April 8th, 2014 - Mod now works with new or existing characters.

April 10, 2014 - Sleeping no longer restores health unless under the effects of a health regen potion (or similar).

September 5th, 2014 - Sleeping restores health if player posesses any basic healing spell to avoid having to manually heal every time you wake up. Healing powers (except for Argonian HistSkin) must still be manually used.

This mod is based on my "No Health Regen - Done Right" mod, so you should use either that mod or this one, but not both.

One nice addition would be for "Tired" to cut your stamina regen in half. This way it would affect combat focused characters more directly.

This is the only way I'll play Skyrim from now on. Using healing magic doesn't feel like cheating anymore.

Nice.

Has anybody played this with a mod that causes running to drain stamina?

@OpenWorldAddict: Also, my other mod, "No Health Regen Done Right" actually performs exactly how you'd like. With that mod, sleeping will restore health just as it did in the originial game.

@OpenWorldAddict: I disagree, I found that I ended up never depending on food for health regeneration because I could just sleep and restore health that way. With the changes I've made, you NEED to eat to restore health, as sleeping only restores magicka. To make the mod play exactly as it did before though, you only need to have any healing spell in your spell inventory (you do not need to actually cast it). Also, sitting, sleeping, or using props will still heal you enough to recovery from injury (even if you don't have a healing spell in your inventory), but now you'll have to eat to restore health further. Give it a try for a bit and you'll see that you end up relying on food even more than before.

I loved your mod before, because I saw it as a light alternative to scripted basic needs mods. Not anymore. I don't like some of the changes you made.

I don't like the fact that Sleeping no longer restores helath unless you have a healing spell or under the effects of a health regen potion.

To be a good basic needs replacement mod, you need to do things to encourage the player to eat and sleep, not discourage it, and those changes make going to sleep to recoverr your health harder to do.

@Kaaru62: I just modified some of the script to extend the amount of time before becoming tired, give it a try again and let me know how it goes. I'll be playtesting it myself in the mean time.

lol, make that Imps more complex needs, not common

it goes to tired when you get to 4 hours of sleep needed. if you dont change the time setting, then you will be tired all the time. i set my time factor (from Imps more common needs) to 3 (default is 20). that means it i get 3 game days in a 24 hour period, or 8 hours for a game day.it takes about 2 hours of playing before i get tired and have to sit and rest to regenerate magica. the sit anywhere mod makes that easy. i have not tried playing with the scale factor yet, this is with default settings.
