Independence

Independence adds 20 new nations for independent colonies to form with each colonial region now having at least one nation to form. Regions have one Primary nation and a selection of regional nations, with each region having its own Idea Group. All nation forming decisions in the New World are based around the location of the nation's capital within the areas of that colonial region. Vanilla New World nations have been edited to reflect this new system.

This mod adds new nations to ever colonial region in EU4, including:
- Ontario
- Massachusetts
- Florida
- California
- Texas
- Cuba
- Paraguay
- New Zealand
and many more!

To change to any of the added nations simply open the console (press ~) and enter event independence_debug.1 and choose your nation from the list. This event (which does not fire normally) also includes the vanilla new world nations (e.g. Mexico, USA, Brazil).

Each colonial region now has its own idea group which are automatically changed to upon obtaining independence. The Idea groups are usually named after their region, e.g. Californian ideas, Peruvian Ideas, Canadian ideas. Each region recieves only one idea group so that there is no incentive to choose Uruguay over La Plata for example.

To create each region's idea groups they were either adapted from an existing idea group (e.g. American Ideas) or created with the help of the Nation Designer in an attempt to keep them balanced between Administration, Diplomatic and Military ideas. This mod was originally designed to work in partnership with the new Liberty Desire system, which has more nations declaring independence in the New World. Events such as Haiti ruling all of the Caribbean were some of the major inspirations for this mod.
