Configuration for the (unrecognized) Thrustmaster T300 Ferrari GTE Wheel.
By toix
Make the game recognize the wheel and create a key assignment for the T300 Ferrari GTE Wheel. You can most likely use this guide for other Thrustmaster Ferrari wheels or even other unsupported wheels.

Steps
  • Download tm_t300rs.xml
    https://www.filehosting.org/file/details/762694/tm_t300rs.xml
    and put it in the the following folder
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DiRT 3 Complete Edition\actionmap\
    You will be able to reassign different keys in the game. But I have configured the file how I like it for my Ferrari GTE Wheel.

  • Open actionMapPaths.xml with an editor
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DiRT 3 Complete Edition\actionmap\actionMapPaths.xml
    and add the following line after line 38
    <xmlreader processor="ActionMap2" filename="actionmap/tm_t300rs.xml" map="UPDATE" pool="UPDATE_TEMPORARY" />

  • Open devicesetup.xml with an editor
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DiRT 3 Complete Edition\forcefeedback\devicesetup.xml
    and add the following line after line 46
    <FFBDevice name="Thrustmaster T300RS Racing wheel" scaleForce="0.6" scaleFriction="0.35" baseFriction="0.0" maxFriction="35.0" scaleEffects="0.85" delay="0.0"/>

  • Start DIRT 3.
    Go in control setup.
    Load the T300 preset.
Wheel options
By default there are configured dead zones. But dead zones for wheels is pretty bad.
I configured them like that:
Force Feedback
I also made a guide that improves Force Feedback.

im using the thrustmaster rs300 wheel

2021 fix I downloaded the file above and then in the action map - tm_t300rs i put line 3 as this

ActionMap actionMapName="tm_t300rs" deviceName="Thrustmaster T300RS Racing Wheel" priority="12">

then in FORCEFEEDBACK file copy below into line 47 then save
<FFBDevice name="Thrustmaster T300RS Racing Wheel (USB)" scaleForce="0.6" scaleFriction="0.35" baseFriction="0.0" maxFriction="35.0" scaleEffects="0.85" delay="0.0"/>

What works for me by manually mapping the keys.
No wheel preset shows up, only keyboard.
For the steering turn the wheel left for left key, it will show up as LEFT X-axis.
Do the same for right, break and accelerate.

And you have to set the Steering Deadzone to 0%.
I have also set the throttel/break deadzones to 0%

I have not tried toix method, because it now works fine.

SOLUCE !!! : Was not working for me (t300 Alcantara) BUT i tryed whit this name
"Thrustmaster T300RS Racing Wheel (USB)" (the exact same one on windows peripheral) and it's working, the problem was just the big W and the missing " (USB)" in the name !

Put this new name inside tm_t300rs.xml, actionMapPaths.xml and devicesetup.xml as sayed before.
I would be happy to hear that it works for you.

"and add the following line after line 38"

It's very arbitrary. Do you consider blank spaces to be a line too ? Is the very first line on the bottom 0 or 1 ?

Why don't you just say what comes before it ?

Jutt a note: I have the Ferrari Alcantera wheel that came with the servo.

I had to capitalize "wheel" for it to work with my T300RS, but thanks, it works now.
