Clown Plague Pack

The carnival comes to town. Tents rise without a sound, canopy of tarps and lights spring up overnight. Music is drifts through the town and laughter is heard in the distance. The smell of sugary treats hangs in the air. Like a moths to a flame, people are drawn to the festivity and join in the merriment of the painted performers. Throughout the week the clowns grow in numbers, the audience joining the act. The clowns teach them their philosophies and for some it resonates. Edified by the fanatical flippancy they preach, they are painted and stained in the colors of euphoric anarchy. The week ends and the carnival leaves with the town.

This is how they spread their infectious jubilee, this is how the murder grows. They are a plague of contagious mirth, pale skin covering mutated bodies houses their warped minds. Their origin is unknown, they have seemingly just appeared. They are an aggressive entity, actively seeking to spread and increase their numbers through any means they see necessary for the growth of the Hive.

The source of the mutation is the nose. When attached to the face, it takes root and spreads throughout the body. It becomes the controller of every facet of their physiology, from cell division to chemistry, the nose controls everything. This is how it causes the mutations, by comandeering all processes and adjusting the body manually. This gives the clown near immortality, able to regenerate from any injury so long as the nose remains intact. The nose is remarkably durable but unable to heal itself from damage. A clown with a cracked or damaged nose will have to return to the Hive for it to be repaired or they risk death.
If a clown loses its nose, either through destruction or severing, its body will begin failing. As the nose is responsible for all of their processes, a clown will be highly vulnerable. For example, a clown would not be able to fight off a pathogen or heal from a cut. The wound would remain open and may eventually bleed them to death because the body is unable to cot the area without the nose. Without this integral organ, the clown will most likely die of mass cell death.


Known Varieties/Individuals

Droolina-
A walking infector and a carrier of plague eggs. She doesn't seem to be a true source, rather a field agent for quick recruitment. She does have influence in creating the eggs, but it works in a process similar to how clams produce pearls. She is able to tell the eggs apart, knowing how they will mutate someone. If your faced against her and lucky enough to have time to speak, you can ask her for a specific mutation. At least in this way you'll have some choice in your fate.

Blamo-
A powerful clown with a mastery of helium and "Balloonomancy". Blamo is an oddity, a deadly serious clown that rarely engages in any of the frivolity of his compatriates. His weightless body is capable of flying and lifting nearly anything with him into the air. He is not jovial like other clowns, and has a sadistic sense of humor. Laughing quietly at the fear in the faces of the Clown Hive's enemies and swaying bodies floating mid air.
Do not tell him Balloonomancy isnt a thing, he already knows and doesn like being reminded.

Scribbler-
Female clowns that have long bloody fingers. Their mutation has turned their blood into a form of ink that they use to paint walls and clowns. Their paintings vary greatly, from actual depictions of events or ideas, to surrealistic expressions, to simply a mess of scribbled lines and symbols. A scribbler rarely wonders far from a colony, with the appearance of one potentially indicating a hidden infestation.
Overall they can be a very friendly variety of clown.

Pepporpoises-
Dolphin clowns with a high pitched cackle and love of tea parties. Unlike normal dolphins, they dont require water to live and often try to crawl, or hop, onto land. A deep bite from them causes symptoms similiar to the plague itself, however it is curable. The Pepporpoises speak with a fake English accent and pepper their diction with cockney words and phrases irregularly, sometimes misusing slang or forgetting to use the same term twice. Despite their infectious bite being of use in expanding the Hive, they are absolutely remorse to do so and will avoid it all but the most dire situations. This type of clown values elegance and refinement, or at least its understanding of the concept, and enjoys making psuedo-intellectual conversation with others. It seems to find its meandering speech and vapid pontificating hilarious and will develop respect for anyone able to continue these conversations.
Surprisingly they do taste like candy.

Zappo-
Apperently no one is immune, even if you're a cyborg. The zappos are the result of the plague arriving on a dalek controlled planet. They are effectively blind and rely on echolocation, emmiting constant honks or sirens whenever moving. The folds around the necks of their metal bodies are actually a techno-organic fungus used as sensory organs to pick up sounds and particles in the air.

Smashy-
A variety of clown known for it's thick, berry flavored pus. They will often smash parts of their bodies into large objects to maintain the wounds on their dominant arm. The area bloats and cracks open, with the sweet meat fluids oozing from the crevices in the thick skin. It is then used to make pies.
Fun Fact: Smashies enjoy baking and they feel validated and appreciated when asked for a pie they made.

Monkey Man-
Clowns well known for their acrobatic ability. They have mysterious knowledge of things they should not know. If you were to encounter one, it would know many private details about your life. It might taunt your insecurities or give vague warnings of your loved ones. Though most often, they will critique your life choices and talk at length what they would have done in the scenario.
Side Note: Do not look into their eyes, they take it as a challenge.

Snaker- A living hive of spring loaded plush snakesmade from woven tendons. This clown is often on patrol for intruders near the boundaries of a colony and barrage suspected threats in a flurry of fleshy snakes. In dire situations, they will self detonate and send a swarm of snakes in every direction. It takes up to 24 hours for a Snaker to completely heal from this, a remarkably slow healing period. The snakes inhabiting their body can be controlled remotely by the central body, but must return to replenish their form within 24 hours of separating or they will decay to a corpse resembling a disintegrated sock.

Running Joke- A swift and acrobatic clown known for its persistent pursuit. If it does not get a laugh in response to its jokes, it will follow and repeatedly barrage them with pranks and gratuitous puns until finally getting the desired result. Other times they are known for sneaking through the shadows and waiting for an opportunity to interject with one of their favored jokes or gags, every clown of this type has a selection jokes they find the most hilarious and are filled with a childlike eagerness to share the wordplay or visual gags that they hold so close to their rubbery hearts.

Punchline-

Arcilly- Robots can be converted as well, as this converted Cybertronian demonstrates. She performs two roles within the hive; as a stunt vehicle during performances and patrolling the outer bounds of their territories. Her pressence is a positive one, when she is seen it indicates the Hive is merely there to entertain with no intention of expanding their ranks at the time.
