The pressure is simulated with the sped when you use the mouse only.
The best way is to draw a test in the Preview zone and then adjust the gradient accordingly to your drawing ( the Preview will be updated in real time when changing Gradient positions )

How to properly apply gradient pressure with a mouse? Having hard times to make a good color blending.

This tutorial is very helpful. I was playing around before unsure of how to really adjust the brush. This shows how to do it, for those who haven't read on how to, or haven't stumbled upon it yet.
