A glimpse into the development of Exgenesis
Description
Exgenesis is a point and click adventure game with a peculiar graphical style that blends true photos with computer graphics to create a dreamlike and mysterious atmosphere.
Set in a dystopian future the game will have the player explore the most intimate places of his personality, accompanying him on a journey to discover the secrets of existence.

WE NEED YOUR HELP: Right now we are running an Indiegogo campaign and it will define if there will be a Mac or a Linux version of the game. If you want to help us just check it out and share the campaign, tell your friends, parents and even your grandma.

Main Features

  • Classic point and click gameplay: We are big fans of the genre and the game will reflect that. You can expect puzzles to solve, items to collect and use, places to explore, dialogues… all that good stuff.
  • All the choices presented are viable: The protagonist is the player himself; what’s right or wrong is up to him and the story will take shape accordingly. This leads to high replayability and multiple endings.
  • Mix of real world photos and computer graphics: All the scenes in the game are artfully composed by photo editing from various sources. We blend together photos (including real historical landmarks and handcrafted clay models) and computer generated images to produce distinctive, eye-catching visuals. All of this presented in full HD resolution.
  • Immersive surreal experience: The peculiar graphical style, together with the story based on real ancient beliefs, creates an unique experience that sends the player on a strange journey full of mystery and discovery.

The story

The story behind Exgenesis is based on real legends and beliefs and it offers an original take on the genesis myth.
Everything takes place in a dystopian future where mysterious entities put the player to the test as he tries to uncover the true nature of the world. Here is a small introduction of the plot:

Everything we’ve been taught about the Creation is a lie. The true story of the genesis has been lost to the ages. Our ancestors failed to preserve the truth and the purpose of our existence has been forgotten.
Many years from the greatest war the world has ever seen, mankind has completely lost his spirituality and is now living only to fulfill his material needs. This isn’t acceptable anymore. A new beginning is needed. A new earth.
They’re already watching us. They’re judging us. They’re already choosing who's worthy of watching the dawn of the new human-kind, and those who will take part in it.

Risks and challenges

This is the first time we try our hands at a project with such a prominent narrative component but we strongly believe that our team is more than capable of delivering a satisfying and polished game.
It is obviously possible that unforeseen circumstances or technical problems will slow down the development but apart from that we really don’t see what could go wrong.

The dev studio keeps updating their social media with news about other things but they last said anything about this game in January, 2015. Though their website still lists it as under development, it appears it's abandoned.
