Achievements Guide [EN]

My first guide ever made for you all.

Zero Gear counts 45 achievements.
Most of them can be made single player with bots, so here we go.

If you have any trouble finding an achievement, use CTRL+F to make a quick search.

Race Mode

This is the main mode that counts 9 maps:

Other maps created from the editor are also counting for these achievements.

Float Like a Butterfly
Win a race while airborne.


Spring Chicken
Use a spring 50 times.

The spring is the item you earn from a box in a race.
Try to keep it till the end and use it for the "Float Like a Butterfly" achievement, just before the finish line.

You can also use the "Space" button on a keyboard or the "Y" button on a 360 controller to hop over the finish line and get the "Float Like a Butterfly" achievement. Thanks to ᴷ ᶦ ᶦ for this information.

Draft Master
Draft off a player for 10 straight seconds.

Just stay running behind a bot or a player for 10 seconds. The draft will add boost to your gauge and make you able to run faster.

Ultimate Indie Gamer
Win a race with the indie slider activated.

The 'Ultimate Indie Gamer' achievement requires the activation of the indie slider which actually is an 'indieness' slider that allows you to give your game more or less pixelation. You should go in the graphics settings and pull it just a bit so the game is playable and win a race. The slider is located in Settings/Graphics. Thanks to Postal2 for the advice.

Rocket Sauce
Boost for 30 straight seconds.

Choose the map 'ZeroCircuit'. Stay last for 4 or 5 laps then run for the 1st place.
Each checkpoint will give you full boost. Use it for 30 seconds.

Note that the boost you receive is determined by the distance between yourself and a racer in front of you. For example. if you're further away from the racer, you'll receive more of a boost. If you're closer, you'll receive less. A good tactic, if you're good at it, would be to boost right behind the racer and streamline/draft them to build your boost. Pacifist
Win a race without using a weapon.

All is said in the description.
Even if you catch an item from a box, don't use it and catch the 1st place.

Overachiever
Remain in first place for an entire race.

Before the countdown at the start of a race, hold down the boost button ('Left Shift' for keyboards, 'RB' for 360 controllers) and stay first till the end of the race.
Play with only 1 bot to avoid too much troubles.

PWNT
Overcome the player in first place and win the race in 1 second.


Screwed
Lose first place in the last seconds of a race.

Play with only 1 bot and wait for him before the finish line. When he passes it, press forward to earn your achievement.
For the "PWNT" achievement, keep some boost and wait for the bot on the last checkpoint.
When he passes you, follow him and use your boost to pass him just before the finish line.

Easy Rider
Win a race without using boost.

Easy to make.

Bronze Medal
Finish 3rd 25 times.


Silver Medal
Finish 2nd 50 times.


Gold Medal
Finish 1st 100 times.


I Would Drive 500 Miles
Drive 500 miles.


I Would Drive 500 More
Drive 1,000 miles.


Route 66
Drive 2,448 miles.

Just drive on race maps with bots, enjoy the game.

Good Sport
Be a good sport.

And don't forget to say 'GG' in the chat on the final result of a race map.

Goal Mode

This mode is opposing 2 teams in a back to back game in different sports.
It's counting 4 maps:

• Hoops
  
• KickIt
  
• Touchdown
  
• RinkyDink

Complete Shutout
Win back to back games in goal mode without the opposing team scoring.

To unlock this achievement you must win two or more games, one after the other, without the opposing team scoring. Thanks to [S-UK] Takendown for this information.

Comeback
Win in goal mode after being down by 2.

Just let the bots win by 2 at the start of the game, then own them.

Nail Biter
Win a goal mode game in overtime.

The game should end in a perfect draw (0-0 / 1-1 / 2-2) to start an overtime.
Win the game in overtime to get this achievement.

Tag Mode

This mode is the typical cat & mouse game, but with cars.
It counts 3 maps:

• Fallout
  
• TagArena
  
• PunchBowl

Sting Like a Bee
Steal the arrow 5 times in one tag match.

In other words, be IT 5 times in one tag match by bumping the bot that is scoring points.

Paratrooper
Stay airborne for 6 seconds.


Flight of the Falcon
Accumulate 15 minutes of airtime.


Lemming
Fall off a map 5 times in one game.

These achievements are easier on the map 'Fallout'.
Just fall over and over, you can also make spins or barrel rolls if you want. (See Tricks & Flips)

Items

This category shows all the achievements using items.
6 items are obtainable from the boxes:

• Boxing Glove
  
• Blue Shield
  
• Tornado
  
• Huggle Robot
  
• Ice Cube
  
• Land Mine

Frozen Finish
Cross the finish line in first place while frozen

Just play with 1 bot in the Champion Circuit, take items until you get the ice cube and use it in the end aiming on the wall just before the finish line. Rush into the ice cube and finish 1st.

Deep Space
Get knocked 100 meters from the platform in Fallout.

You will need a friend to get this one. Unless you are really lucky with bots torturing you, it's quite hard to achieve it alone.

Have a friend obtain the Force Field item (blue shield) and tell him/her to go right on the corner, edge of the ramp. You, as the person trying to achieve this achievement, must have the Spring item (jump). The plan is to get your friend to activate the Force Field a few moments before you come speeding toward them, then using the spring to get some height. The Force Field will push you up higher, thus making you travel further away from the map. Thanks to [S-UK] Takendown for this tip.

Climate Change
Get iced 5 times in one game.


Use the Force
Repulse 5 players at once.


Deep 6
Hit 6 players with a mine.


All you Need is Love
Get hugged 3 times in one game.


K.O.
Punch 2 players at the same time.

All of these achievements can be made in PunchBowl, SumoArena or TagArena with 6 bots. When you get the item required, just run to the group of bots and use it.
For "All you Need is Love", tag yourself it and run to the middle. The bots will carry items and send them to you.
For "Climate Change", just throw an ice cube in front of you and run into it. Easy.

The "K.O." achievement can also be easier in goal mode with 3 or more bots.
When the bots of the other team are moving for the ball, just punch them in the face.

Tricks & Flips

This category shows the achievements you need to do tricks and flips.
To do flips or barrel rolls, you need to release the turn (left or right) or the accelerator after a jump and then in the air hold it again to move your car as you wish.
Holding the accelerator in the air will make a frontflip whereas holding the brake in the air will make a backflip.

The best map to make these achievements is Skate.
But you can also make it in other maps like Pachinko or Fallout if you find it easier.

Barrel Roll
Do a barrel roll.


Slippy Sez
Do 10 barrel rolls.

To do a barrel roll, hold left or right after a jump in the air.
10 barrel rolls can be made easier in the Pachinko map.

Flippin Awesome
Do a flip.


Double Flip
Do a double flip.


Triple Flip
Do a triple flip.


I Get Around
Do 20 flips.

To do flips, you need to release the accelerator in the air and hold it again to do a front flip.
If you hold the brake instead, you will do a backflip. Both are counted for these achievements.
The best map to do them is the Skatepark.

Outfits

This section shows the outfits achievements.
You can change the outfit of your character in the garage in the main menu.
5 parts are available to customize your character: Karts, Wheels, Character, Accessories, Hats.

However, some achievements require you to use a specified equipment.

War Games
Play a game with only military officers. (Hat and 'tank' Kart)


Pirate Party
Play a game with only pirates. (Hat and 'boat' Kart)


Inpector Kemp
Play a game with only inspectors. (Accessory)


Gentleman's Wager
Play a game with only gentlemen. (Hat)


Termination
Play a game with only machines. (Character)

In order to get these achievements, get in your garage from the menu and select the outfit corresponding.
After that, just create a server with 3 maximum players and 2 minimum players, so 1 spot will be filled by a bot.
You will see that each map gives a new bot using different outfits. Change map until it matches the outfit required to get the achievement and play the entire map.

For "War Games" and "Pirate Party", you will need to use both equipment: Hat and Kart.
So it's better to do it with a friend. I think no bot will match you.

Miscellaneous

Other achievements that have no category or too few of them to make one.

Disappearing Act
Reset yourself 50 times.

Just press 'R' on a keyboard or the 'Start' button on a 360 controller 50 times.

BFF
Play in a game with 3 other people on your friends list.

Make friends.

or

First open the game and press ~ which opens the console.
Then type in ach = AchievementManager() and press enter.
Next type ach:Unlock(ach.AVMT_BFF) and that should unlock the achievement.

Ticket Master
Score 10,000 accumulative points in target games.

Target games are including these maps:

• Pachinko
  
• ChuteShoot

If any achievement seem bugged, open the game and press ~ which opens the console.
Then type in

ach = AchievementManager()

and press enter. Next, type:

ach:Unlock(ach.AVMT_*name_in_caps_with_underscores_for_spaces*)

For example:

ach:Unlock(ach.AVMT_FLIGHT_OF_THE_FALCON)

This will unlock the "Flight of the Falcon" achievement automaticly.

All you need is love: AVMT_NEED_LOVE
I would drive 500 miles: AVMT_500_MILES
I would drive 500 more: AVMT_500_MORE

I was able to do "Deep Space" alone with just the spring + Boost. I wasn't able to get "Paratrooper" though.

I got Deep Space with a spring and full boost meter, boost and spring off the edge, kept boosting. Possible it was buggy though.

You can get War Game and Pirate Party with a bot. I set map time to 1, left the game running and got them both in a couple hours.

tried to get BFF and Complete Shutout legit so many times and it never worked.. and now I find out that there is a console command to unlock achievements? if this really works......

If achievement doesn't open through console, open AchievementManager.lua file with Notepad and look there. For example, to open "I Would Drive 500 Miles" you need to type "500_MILES".
