A concise step-by-step walkthrough instruction for Guise of the Wolf.

Introduction
Castle Grounds
The player awakes to find himself beside a broken carriage and within a short distance, the corpse of the horse that pulled it.
Enter the cabin before you.
Click on the chest to enter a lockpicking mini-game.
The objective of these mini-games is to align the openings in the rings to the bolt. This can be achieved by clicking on the four toggle switches that will knock groups of rings together.

Successfully unlocking chests will earn the player a reward.
Leave the cabin and turn left, walk forward until you reach a bridge.
Cross the bridge and walk up the hill.
Walk over to the left, you will find the body of a man. The snow around him is stained in blood.
Walk towards the man to initialise a cutscene.
Return to the carriage crash area and continue walking past it.
You will see another bridge behind it, cross the bridge and walk up the hill.
Walk over to the right until you find an axe.
Select the axe and click to collect it.
Walk over to the castle entrance.
Approach the doors to initialise a cutscene. The character has become fatigued by the attack and collapses.

Guest Room 1
The player will wake to find a young maiden explaining the situation.
Complete the dialogue to enable free movement.
Once the maiden has left the room, you may now explore.
Walk over to the mirror in the room and look into it.
Turn around and begin walking to the door
Before leaving the room, collect the empty blue vial and empty bag from the shelves.
Exit the room.

The Upper Halls
Walk over the next room on the same side and enter it.

Guest Room 2
Collect the apple from the bowl.
To the left of the drawers with the apple ontop is a wardrobe. Open it to collect the vial and a note further explaining the mystery of why you have been summoned.
Exit the room.

The Upper Halls
Continue walking around the hall until you see a man.
Speak to the man to initialise a dialogue.
On completing the dialogue, the man will give you a key for the courtyard. Continue walking around the hall until you reach steps leading down.
There will be a large door. Open your inventory with “I” and select the courtyard key. Click on the door to use the key on it and unlock it.
Filch
The Courtyard
You will see guards around the castle, they can be pickpocketed using a special technique. Crouch behind them and click on their back pockets to grab extra gold. This will be useful later on.
Follow the path leading to the left until you reach a chest. Selecting it will start a new lockpicking mini-game.
After completing receiving the reward, turn around and enter the room on the right.

The Chapel
You will notice a chained gate in this room; the chains cannot yet be broken however.
Continue to the altar. Collect the morning glory flowers from the vase.
Exit the chapel.

The Courtyard
Walk around to the other side and continue down the steps to the lower central courtyard.
Walk towards the guards.
Crouch behind the guard on the left using the Control key.
Click on the guard’s back pocket to pickpocket him.
You will receive a rusted key.
Walk in the direction of the other guard until you see stairs leading down to another room.
Open your inventory and use the rusted key on the door.

The Dungeon
You will be introduced with an inner dialogue.
Tip: Avoid the traps on the ground. Stepping in one will result in instant death!
Walk over to the right and approach the wooden door.
Open your inventory and use the axe on the door.
There will be another chest in this room for you to open with the lockpick challenge.
Next to the chest is a barrel, check the barrel to collect fur.
Follow the path around the dungeon, avoiding traps as you move.
At the end of the path, you will see a skeleton; continue left until you reach a man in a cell.
Speak to the man, he will ask for an apple.
Open your inventory and give the apple you found in the room to the man.
The man will introduce himself and ask you to free him in return for help in creating a potion.
Open your inventory and use the rusted key on the door or hand it to the man. The key will be returned to your inventory.
The man will leave and give you seeds.
Return to where the skeleton was and crouch, walk under the bent fencing.
Exit through the door.

Catacombs
You will begin with another inner dialogue.
The ground will then begin to shake and the wall behind you will break down. The werewolf has found you.
Outrun the werewolf by holding Shift and the movement keys, jumping each gap on the broken bridge until you reach the lever.
Pull the lever to drop the gate behind the werewolf. This will in turn open the next gate.
Trapped, the werewolf will walk away for now.
Continue through the open gate.
As you walk down the hall, pull the lever.
You will come to an intersection; forward will lead you to a chained fence which you can’t yet break. Follow the path to the left.
Do not pull the lever infront of you at the path split.
Walk up the stairs and open the chest to collect a reward.
Pull the lever next to the chest and continue
Jump through the opening and down to the central area.
Pull the lever next to the skeleton
Turn left and walk through the newly opened gate.
Pull the lever in this room and continue back to the lever you avoided before walking towards the chest.
Pull this lever and walk into the large central room.
The gate next to the skeleton will now be unlocked.
Run through, avoiding the spiked log that will fall above you.
Continue on the path leading left until you reach a rope.
Select the rope to climb it and exit the catacombs.
Potions
Kitchen Area
Walk over to the logs stacked up in the far corner.
Collect the small piece of bark stuck between the logs.
Tip: Be careful not to stay in the moonlight too long. At this point you cannot handle the transformation and will blackout.
Enter the kitchen
Walk over to the woman and open the cupboard, collect the holly container on the shelf.
Turn to face the table.
Collect the celery and moonflower.
Walk over to the next table.
Click on the strawberries to collect the gray mold.
Walk around the right hand side of the table to approach the fireplace.
Collect the apple.
Speak with Filch.
He will hand a list to you explaining how to create the potion.
The list is in your inventory.
Place each ingredient into the cauldron.
When the potion is ready, add a vial to the potion to collect Devil’s Tale.
The game will cut to Filch explaining that the potion needs to be tested.
You will drink this automatically while speaking with him.
Before walking outside to test the potion, check the chest near the door for a reward.
Walk outside and step into the glowing blue circle.
You will now begin you first true transformation.
Destroy the pillar behind the well, run at it and click to break it.
Run through the kitchen breaking down the door through to the left and the door at the back of the kitchen.
Wait in the darkness to allow the transformation to wear off.
Once you have returned to human form, Filch will speak to you. Ask him about books on Alchemy.
For now, you will need to exit through the door around the left side of the kitchen. This will lead you back to the courtyard.

The Courtyard
You will have another inner dialogue explaining that the curse was not lifted but rather controlled, so you may now transform at any time in the moonlight.
Now you can enter the chapel again.

The Chapel
Walk over to the left to transform in the light.
After transforming, run towards the chained fence and hit it by clicking.
Continue running through this hallway.
Break the stone pillars by clicking on them as you run at them.
As you reach the top, you will be able to jump across the chandelier to the other side of the Chapel.
Break the last pillar.
Wait in the corner for the transformation to wear off.
Open the chest for another reward.

East Wing
Walk to the bottom level to the gate.
Collect the nuts on the box.
Pull the lever to open the trellis.
Walk through the door to return to the courtyard.

The Courtyard
Walk back to the Upper halls where the guest rooms are.
Use your courtyard key on the door to unlock the wooden doors.
Walk around to meet Filch.
He will tell you that the door is locked from inside.
Return to the courtyard.

The Courtyard
Walk around to the right
Open the door to the kitchen area.

The Kitchen Area
Walk through to the hallway at the back of the kitchen.
Follow the corridor.
Open the door to the West Wing

The West Wing
Walk to the right until you reach a locked wooden door.
Open your inventory and use your axe to break it open.
Observe the empty gear slot and try the lever. You need to collect a gear to complete the mechanism.
Return to the West Wing entrance and continue, entering now the other breakable wooden door.
Open your inventory and use your axe to break through.
Continue down the ladder to the Brewery.

The Brewery
Take a left and approach the gate.
To your right will be a lever, pull it.
The werewolf that chased you earlier has found you again. Run to the end of the hallway. At the end is a recess that you can hide inside. Get ready to press Control to crouch and hide inside. Move behind the container to move out of sight of the werewolf.
Wait until the werewolf has walked out of sight.
Leave the recess and walk to the right, you will see the gear that you require on the table. Collect it.
Pull the lever and walk back.
Take the path through the newly opened gate until you reach the ladder leading back to the West Wing.
Walk up the ladder.

The West Wing
Continue towards the room with the missing gear.
Place the cog in your inventory on the empty pivot.
Pull the lever to open the gate in the central room.
You will now need to break the chain. This will require a transformation.
Walk up the stairs and transform in the moonlight.
Run down the stairs and break the chain.
Wait for the transformation to end to use the door. Remember to hide in the darkness to help the transition along.
Run along this exterior wall path whilst maintaining your transformation to give you extra speed. Jump the gaps until you reach the far end.
Enter the window at the end.
Puzzles
The Library
Walk over to the left and open the chest for a reward.
Walk around the shelves to your side until you reach a tall cupboard. Open it and collect the vial.
Continue to the front of the library where you will see the door is locked. Walk along the path leading right until you find a lever and pull it.
Filch will have entered the Library and is waiting at the table in the centre for you. Speak with him.
Filch will ask you to look for books on Alchemy, you will find the one you need on the shelves by the window you entered, on the opposite side with the chest.
Collect the book and the card beneath it.
Study the book for information.
On the opposite side of the shelves where you found the book, there is a puzzle on the wall. Place the card you found into it to start it.
The puzzle is a memory game whereby the player must match two cards to each other. Mistakes will cause the game to restart.
Complete the puzzle by following the layout below:

On completing the puzzle, Filch will appear. He will then explain that he hears something coming. The wolf has returned. Run around the table behind the shelf on your right and crouch beneath it.
Wait until the werewolf has left.
After the wolf has left, enter the hidden room over by the side of the library.
You will see a green flame and cages. Upon entering this room, immediately turn to your left and collect the blood from the bucket by using an empty vial on it.
Walk over to the table in the corner of the room and collect the book. The book will explain that three things are needed.
Turn around to find that Filch has caught up with you. Speak with him.
After speaking with Filch, exit the library through the main doors.

The Upper Halls
Exit through the door to the courtyard

The Courtyard
Take a left and enter through the first door to the East Wing

The East Wing
Climb up the stairs, transform in one of the moonlit circles along the way.
Destroy the pillar on the top floor.
Go back down the stairs and continue through the opening in your transformed state. Run past the guards until you reach the other tower.
Upon reaching the other tower, take a right.
In an alcove, you will see thistles. Collect the thorns from it
You will now need to complete the puzzle with the handles in order to open the trellis behind the guard in this room.
The pattern is below, for clarity the handles need to match this pattern -- \ /

Walk around to the side that the guard is standing on and walk through the doorway to outside.
Pick up the feathers lying on the ground.
Transform in the moonlight and destroy the pillar.
Return to where the guard was standing and run through the hallway. Destroy the wooden door at the end and wait for the transformation to end to open the door.
Walk through the door.

The Upper Halls
Continue through the door to the courtyard

The Courtyard
Take a right and enter the first door to the kitchen area

The Kitchen Area
Walk over to the cauldron, refer to the Herbarium for ingredients for the Night’s Watchman and add the ingredients to the cauldron.
Use a vial to collect the potion.
Now you must destroy all of the pillars around the castle as Filch mentioned earlier.
Locations of the pillars are as follows:
Note: To return to the Castle Path, you will need to go through the large double doors in the courtyard and bribe the guard on the other side with 200 gold. You should have this if you have unlocked all chests and pickpocketed some guards.

There are 10 pillars here in total.

Once you have collected all of the pillars, return to the Upper Halls.
Enter Guest Room 2.

Guest Room 2
You will see Isabell, speak to her.
After speaking to her, she will give you an amulet and aconitum.
Exit the room

The Upper Halls
Exit to the courtyard

The Courtyard
Take a right and go through the first door to the kitchen.

The Kitchen
Walk over to the cauldron and add the ingredients for Wolfsbane.
After adding an empty vial to take the wolfsbane, exit the kitchen to the courtyard.

The Courtyard
Take the door to the upper halls

The Upper Halls
Open your inventory and place the amulet on the neck of the statue in front of you.
A cutscene will begin of the portrait at the opposite end of the halls sliding open.
Walk around the halls to the end.
Turn around to face the hollow in the wall.
Gather the content within. You will receive a council key and a note.
Read the note then follow the halls around to the left where there originally stood a man outside.
Use the key you just received on the door.
Finale
The Council Chambers
You will be met by Artemis who will now reveal everything to you.
Isabell is being kept in a cage and you must complete the puzzles before she turns.
Run up the stairs to the left and pull the lever quickly.
Run back down and transform in the moonlight.
Run across the platforms to the other side of the room. You will see a wooden post with handles on them – the same as the ones at the top of the East Wing tower. Rotate the post.
Isabell’s cage will be dropped. Speak with her.
Isabell will tell you to take the potion and a cutscene will commence.

Great guide. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you forgot to add the chest at the bottom of the East Wing, available he first time you get there.

I just finished the Library memory-card puzzle/secret room and left to the Upper Halls, then to the Courtyard- but the problem for me is once in the Courtyard, you say take a left and the 1st door to the East Wing- that door shows as blocked for me -advice? :steamflake:

awesome guide! This is very helpful. However, I just wanted to point out...The axe is a missable item. I hope I can get by with simply transforming and breaking down doors that way

@Storm_at_Sea I think you have pulled the wrong lever at some point, you are at the correct skeleton. If the gate hasn't opened, I would only be guessing which levers you need to pull. Eventually you will get it to open, it only takes a few tries in my experience. I understand it can be frustrating but you will get it.

I'm probably misunderstanding, but I am at the area after freeing Filch and all the levers. I returned to the one I had to initially skip and I pulled it (when I was supposed to- I did skip at first as it said), it says the gate by the skeleton in the central area should now be unlocked, but it isn't, unless I'm at the wrong skeleton, but there's only one in the central area. Only other skeleton is near where you crouch to head to this area after Filch. The one in this central area has a blood pool on the other side of the door. Is that the correct one? No hand icon appears to open it and it's still down. Any help? Thanks. :synicle:
