RockPaperShotGun - "Why, if Subutai’s CLANG had been called SCRIBBLE and been about wielding pens instead of swords, we’d all be happily writing virtual reality letters to one another right now. Apexicon is a Kickstarter for a wordy game and the campaign page that opens with a torrent of namechecks, like a rapper making a comeback and thanking his crew." - "Mandatory though it may be for someone who does a lot of writing to say, but a game in which words are weapons capable of taking down the heftiest opponents is rather appealing to me."

Pocket Gamer UK - "What's really impressed me about Apexicon of late, however, is the beautiful art and interface at the heart of the game. The overall idea isn't entirely original, sure, but the game has been polished to a very fine finish."

APEXICON - Fantasy Puzzle Combat is a 2D Puzzle game with RPG elements. Create your character, collect words by using the battle board, and deal damage based on the length of the word and many other factors!

- Rich Lore and World

APEXICON is created with thousands of years of history in mind, so that the richness of the story and characters come to life. Engage in a world where words are the most powerful weapons, instead of the weapons themselves. In APEXICON's world, the pen or pencil IS most certainly mightier than the sword! As you create your character, based off four interesting classes, such as the WORDSMITH or the IDIOMANCER, you take part in an epic journey centered around your distrust of the LITERATI EMPIRE, a regime dedicated to controlling all the magic words in existence, and your search for the legendary relic APEXICON itself.

- Customization and Creation

Creating your character is simple and easy. Simply select a name, choose your class, gender, and hair color, then enter the world of APEXICON. Once in-game, you can purchase any and all options, armors, weapons, modes, skills, and just about anything else with the game's one currency: INK. Collect INK through battling, doing side-quests, and fun mini-games that will test your knowledge of the words in your lexicon! Skills, offensive, and defensive items can be switched at the CHARACTER MENU, allowing you to hotswap abilities in between story missions. Enemies like the LITERATI ERASER and the ALPHAGOB will try to stymie your best efforts in combat, so plan accordingly!

- World-Building and Epic Secrets

Throughout your journey, you may come across a ruined village. Doing side-quests and unlocking this village allows you to build it up from the ground into a grand city. Collect pieces, art, INK, and most of all, the FANTASTICAL TWENTY-SIX, a group of 26 characters who have been scattered across the land to hone their specific letter-based craft. Each of the TWENTY-SIX you bring back to your fledging town will provide you with a new service, a new interaction, and will change the overall ending of the game. Collect them all!

- Epic Soundtrack and Stunning Art

With musical scores being produced by Scott Hitchcock and beautiful high-rez art by Soleeda Chea, enjoy fantastic designs come to life as you battle enemies with fierce determination. Feel the music blow into overdrive when the LITERATI EMPIRE steal the scenes, or slide into inspirational insights when your character contemplates what is going on. With the music guiding the action and story, you're sure to be immersed in-between making words and slaying foes.

Is this game abandoned?

I could see playing this game. Depending on the difficulty, it's a great way to get kids to play, enjoy a story, and learn a good vocab at the same time.

Thanks guys! We're steadily climbing above $2700 on KS, and getting more upvotes here is a good thing!

Good luck on your kickstarter and though I'll play on Wii U, getting through Greenlight. I love the premise and already backed it

Well Ashodin your KS fails to even mention that and your first KS also did. I hope it works out for you. I will wait till full release. I know my contribution and opinion are just that, mine and insignificant. But I at least can speak my mind. Best of luck in attaining your goals.
