Description
The Grand Obelisk Enhanced is a heavily improved and edited version of Croteam's The Grand Obelisk map from the Legend of the Beast DLC.

This map started off as part of another modification I was doing a few months back that improves the original LOTB maps by changing/adding the enemy spawns and items. But eventually, I lost interest in it and discontinued the mod. Few months later, I had an idea to turn it into an escort mission tournament map (Yes, that's right! Escort mission tournament map!) for a particular steam group so I used the modified Grand Obelisk map I had from a few months ago as the base and then continued working on it from there.

A few weeks later, the map was finished and released to the group. Afterwards, I decided to make an non-escort mission version of it and released it to the workshop. So, what changes/features does this map have over Croteam's original version?

Well, here's the list of changes/additions that are on this map:

- Much improved enemy wave design
- More weapons and ammo
- 2 new secrets
- Improved Khnum Boss Fight
- Features new music made by Valerie Valens
- New sexy night-time sky and lighting

Also, note that this map does NOT overwrite the Grand Obelisk map from the Legend of the Beast campaign. This has it's own custom campaign so you can play both the original and this improved version. Furthermore, this map requires the Legend of the Beast DLC (Obviously!) in order to work so make sure you have that if you want to play the map.

Anyways, have fun and stay serious!

- Valerie Valens for the new music tracks

Just WOW, that was really hard. Battle in second yard is a little bit long, but still it's MUCH better than any encounter in any level of the original DLC. It was really a challenge to complete this on Serious difficulty

@Tickleson Hey man, I'm really glad you enjoyed the map. I've released a much more updated and polished version of this map in the Serious Sam Fusion workshop back in 2017. You can download it here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1221961643

If you're interested, I've also released something similar this on a much larger scale for Serious Sam 3 called BFE Enhanced. You can find it on both Serious Sam 3's and Serious Sam Fusion's workshop although I highly recommend playing the Fusion version since that version is a lot more polished/balanced and is IMO the best way to play that mod.

I didn't like this DLC map when I first played it, it felt pointless and uninspired. Mostly due to reusing TFE music/textures/weapons and only featuring Zumb'ul's as a new enemy in Egypt.

THIS however, I had an absolute blast with this mod, I loved the use of enemies, I loved that every Second Encounter weapon is featured and the use of music was really enjoyable. It felt like it was inspired by The Final Countdown which is fun as hell. Heck even having "Final Fight" with a lower pitch was way more kick-ass than the original boss theme.

-also the extra Khnums helped add tension to the boss fight and justifies having the cannon.

Thank you for improving a map I was hugely disappointed with, you rock :bro:
