Multiplayer games with friends and non-friends

This guide demonstrate how to open a Godus lobby and how anyone on Steam can join it.

This guide is designed for Early Access so it may changes in the futur

Creating the lobby

Creating the lobby is almost invisible to you but is required for the further steps to work properly. To do so follow the small pictures below. (If it does not work as intended follow the tips in the troubleshoots section of this guide)

Creating a lobby in Godus is as simple as clicking this tower. The Steam overlay will then show up, you can invite a friend from here but you can also close it.

After you have closed the Steam overlay, you should see up your screen a text similar to the picture, in red is the lobby id you have created silently. After this you are all set to receive Steam invites. If a friend or non-friend follow the second section of this guide he will send you and invite to start a new game

Joining the lobby

Now your lobby is created and is joinable by every Godus owners, even non-friends. To do so they have different ways of joining you.

A friend can simply Right-Click your name in Steam and hit Join Game and after that you will be presented in-game the multiplayer option screen.

A friend or non-friend can simply Right-Click your name in Steam when you are present in a Steam group chat and after that you will be presented in-game the multiplayer option screen (And so on joining the Godus Steam group chat increases your chances of finding a game with people not in your friend list, to do so follow the next section)

A friend or non-friend can also use the Join Game button on your profile page of the Steam Community website. (Remember to set your profile page to public for this to be effective)

Joining the Godus Steam group chat

One of the excellent feature of Steam is that every group made on Steam as a chat and because each game hub as a group, each games as a chat, even Godus ! There is multiple ways of joining a group chat, see the different ways below.

or clicking once the Join Group link on the Godus hub page



in Steam you can click Join group chat room of the GROUPS tab.

After that you will have the possibility to Join Game on the users present in the group chat (if the option is greyed out, see the troubleshoot section)

Troubleshooting common issues

Below are various issues you may encounter.

Join Game greyed out means the user does not have opened a lobby so kindly ask him to refer to the first section of this guide or open it yourself and tell him to follow the second section.

If by chance the lobby does not create when you click the tower, get Microsoft's DebugView[technet.microsoft.com], run it, click the tower and see the output generated by Steam, take it in screenshot and attach it to a support ticket at 22cans at this address https://22cans.zendesk.com/home
