The Demo is for Windows PC only. Sorry - no Mac or other versions yet.

THE GAME:

Iya, a middle-school student, is out for a walk one evening, yet as she strolls down the street there is a blinding flash, and next thing the knows - she's in the middle of a forest. What happened? Can she find a way home? Why is the wildlife so weird and hostile, and why are the woods full of abandoned ruins? Where is she, or better yet - when.

Legend of Iya (LOI) is a 2D, story-driven metroidvania game in development for Windows PC. The game features top-shelf pixel art graphics and animation reminiscent of 16 and early 32-bit era, with lush, varied environments, tons of animation and detail, and some crazy-huge setpieces. In addition to traditional pixel animation the game features huge modular bosses and enemies. Majority of the in-game combat is melee-based, but the character can collect and use various magical-ish powers to give her ranged attacks as well as supernatural abilities.

Planned features:

* A vast, labyrinthine world reminiscent of the classics like Super Metroid and Castlevania SOTN.
* Full soundtrack by Magnus "Philter" Gangstad. (if Kickstarter succeeds)
* High quality graphics - like the best SNES could offer. None of that crude hipster-pixel here!
* Tons upon tons of quality sprite animation! Like, seriously - the player alone already has somewhere in the vicinity of 500 frames.
* Chunky pixels! The game runs in a 256x192 424x240 native resolution of pixelated retro goodness. (might be bumped up to 320x200 at some point)
* Dozens of new powers, upgrades and secrets to discover and collect.
* Juggle-tastic melee combat.
* Massive boss battles and set-pieces.
* A bunch of extras, like a recoded version of the ZX Spectrum-original Legend of Iya!

Honestly I haven't actually logged into steam for a few months now (used to play everyday) but I had to log in again just to say how beautiful the song "Legend of Iya" was that I stumbled upon on Spotify.

Here is Philter's soundcloud if anybody is looking for it.

To be fair I stopped playing video games recently, but I came upon your soundtrack on spotify and it absolutely blew me way. Amazing work and a big thank you to Philter!

@Net Sphere Engineer - Yeah, I'm old: (
The game's store page was approved by Valve, but I hesitate to publish it until I can cut a new trailer, as the old footage is no longer representative of the game, and might turn people off from putting it on their wishlists.

@Net Sphere Engineer - Nahh, you are right. I should've set that page up a long time ago. Currently, it's been submitted to Valve and pending approval. From now until close to release it will be just a stub, and I will update it with a new trailer, artwork and description whenever I can.

I've been rocking the DarkFalzX alias since 1996 on IRC, deriving it from the original Phantasy Star on Sega Master System.

Hey DarkFalzX don't rush things just because I'm asking stupid questions hahahaha. But if you do a store page make sure to announce here so it will show on the activity thing on Steam! Also DarkFalzX is from PSO right? :)

I estimate the price to be around $14.99. Though it's tempting, I am **Not** going to do early access due to the game's structure, however, I will do closed beta near the end among friends and KS backers. Will probably do preorders about the same time as I hit Beta. Really don't want to string paying customers along any further.
