THE GAME:

Iya, a middle-school student, is out for a walk one evening, yet as she strolls down the street there is a blinding flash, and next thing the knows - she's in the middle of a forest. What happened? Can she find a way home? Why is the wildlife so weird and hostile, and why are the woods full of abandoned ruins? Where is she, or better yet - when.

Legend of Iya (LOI) is a 2D, story-driven metroidvania game in development for Windows PC. The game features top-shelf pixel art graphics and animation reminiscent of 16 and early 32-bit era, with lush, varied environments, tons of animation and detail, and some crazy-huge setpieces. In addition to traditional pixel animation the game features huge modular bosses and enemies. Majority of the in-game combat is melee-based, but the character can collect and use various magical-ish powers to give her ranged attacks as well as supernatural abilities.

Planned features:

* A vast, labyrinthine world reminiscent of the classics like Super Metroid and Castlevania SOTN.
* Full soundtrack by Magnus "Philter" Gangstad. (if Kickstarter succeeds)
* High quality graphics - like the best SNES could offer. None of that crude hipster-pixel here!
* Tons upon tons of quality sprite animation! Like, seriously - the player alone already has somewhere in the vicinity of 500 frames.
* Chunky pixels! The game runs in a 256x192 native resolution of pixelated retro goodness. (might be bumped up to 320x200 at some point)
* Dozens of new powers, upgrades and secrets to discover and collect.
* Juggle-tastic melee combat.
* Massive boss battles and set-pieces.
* A bunch of extras, like a recoded version of the ZX Spectrum-original Legend of Iya!

How much will the game cost? That might be an important factor.
