The original MAFIA released on GOG!
As you're all probably aware, GOG just released the original Mafia on their store: https://www.gog.com/game/mafia

The only problem is that the original score is not included, all licensed music has been scrapped. Developers put a lot of thought into the soundtrack so without it, the game loses a lot of its charm.

This guide will show you how you can restore the original music to the GOG version.

///Posting this in a MAFIA II hub because I don't own the Steam version of the original...who does?
Restoring the music
///You can skip the first part of the tutorial if you don't have the Steam/Original version of Mafia installed on your PC///

Follow this section if you have the original version installed
----------------------------------------------------------

1. First, install Mafia from GoG and download the MafiaDataXtractor from here: https://mafiamods.com/mods/mafia-data-xtractor-modding-tool/

2. Next, extract the DataXtractor and copy MafiaDataXtractor.exe to the root of Mafia directory where Game.exe is located (Ex. C:\ProgramFiles\Mafia\)

3. Launch MafiaDataXtractor.exe and select ab.dta - Music from the list. Wait for the program to extract .ogg's

4. Now that extracting is done, you should see a new folder called 'SOUNDS'. Copy the whole thing to where you installed the GoG version of Mafia.

Follow this section if you only have the GOG version installed
----------------------------------------------------------

1. Download this package: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B31JvzIJcaxMRGFjWWxsQ0ZjTFU/view?usp=sharing

BACKUP LINK: https://mega(.)nz/#!ilYHFI5I!TBkB0e05WxvkO4-_BtVZJkuuNoNIGF8Ac5vpVP3EtMw

*Remove () from the MEGA link

2. Extract it and copy the 'SOUNDS' folder to where you installed the GoG version of Mafia. Windows will ask you if you would like to replace the existing files, say 'Yes'.

3. Launch the game and you should now have the original, glorious music :)

Enjoy!

Is there a fixed version of this? Mafia Data Xtractor does not work, it stays at 0% and does nothing, I tried everything.

Yeah, Google Drive apparently locks people out if it's been used a lot during the day. I added a backup MEGA link!
