Map - New Earth

Description
Adds three oddly familiar-looking maps to the game.

Works with all versions of the game.

THIS is most certainly not what the colonists expected when they left Old Earth and began their journey towards a new home! They have arrived at a planet so incredibly far away from Old Earth, and yet, its continents almost perfectly resemble the continents of their old home. But at the same time... it is so different... untamed, primal, and teeming with many-legged lifeforms. Have the colonists somehow slipped through time and arrived at an Earth that is recovering from the wounds that humanity has caused? Is this a highly intelligent lifeform toying with them? Whatever the reason may be... the colonists have arrived at a New Earth, and the only option is to settle in.

Yes, this is exactly what it is. An Earth Map. Three Earth Maps to be exact, a Standard-Sized one, a Large one, and a Massive version that you probably shouldn't play unless you have a really beafy PC and are using Mods that add more Sponsors - because you'll need 16+ to somewhat fill that map.

Both maps come with static terrain, but most of the other stuff (Resources, Resource Pods, Features, Artifacts, Aliens, etc.) is randomized.

"But Ryika! There is no map editor! How the hell did you...?!"

Well, I didn't. Not really at least. The three maps added by this mod are converted versions of maps from JFDs (or Gedemon's? And that too was a conversion from a Mod from Civ4? I have no idea who I should credit here!) Yet (not) Another Earth Maps Pack[forums.civfanatics.com], converted with nORb Dragon's Civ5Map to LUA-script Tool[forums.civfanatics.com], and then edited to make them work with Beyond Earth.

This process is pretty easy (if you're fine with randomized intereors), and I've done my best to fully describe the process in the map files, so if you want to create your own custom maps, or shamelessly convert maps that other people have made, have a look at the mod folder. ;)

Also, if the maps don't show up after subscribing to the mod, or if you want to skip having to go through the mod menu, you can move the maps into the game folder, and the game will then see it as a default maps. To do so, go to:

C:\Users\<USERNAME>\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\MODS\Map - New Earth (v 1)\Maps

Copy all three maps (or just the one you want to use) to:

Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth\assets\Maps

Done!

Limitations/Bugs:
- All Sponsors will be placed on Land in this mod (but settling on Water is still possible if Rising Tide is active). If you want to disable Aquatic Cities and restrict players to the unique and very detailed tectonics of Earth, you can use this mod to disable Aquatic Cities in Rising Tide.
- Map Size shows up as an advanced Option when this script is active, but has no effect on the actual Map generation.

Logrithm_Games: Assuming you subscribed to mod , go mod section load mods twice after enable and after selecting everything else, go advance settings map selection(custom or advance maps , it should be there). Read the mod notes before u do. If mod not showing up u may have go steam game properties after subscribe to mod or unsubscribe & resubscribe , backup game files as well verify game files. Mods won't show up in regular games after subscribing to , u need to go through mod menu.:Diplomat:

This is awesome. I know there was a terraformed mars map from Civ 5, that would be so perfect if it was converted for this game!

I didn't, I just ported it to Beyond Earth. Credit for the people who created these maps and the process to convert maps (and the limitations) can be found in the description above.

Exactly.
