This plugin will fix soul gems such that they never lose their charge once filled with the correct soul, and changes the soul trap spells and enchantments so you never underfill a soul gem.

After you fully fill a soul gem so that the soul and the size of the gem match (e.g. in your inventory it says something like "Lesser Soul Gem (Lesser)" or "Greater Soul Gem (Greater) but not "Common Soul Gem (Petty)"), that soul gem will not lose its charge if you drop it on the ground or place it in a container, which will happen without this mod.

The other thing it does is ensure you only fill gems fully in the first place. In vanilla, if you soul trap a creature with a lesser soul but the only empty gem you have is a greater gem, that lesser soul will be put in that greater gem (wasting it, some would say). With this mod you will let the soul escape rather than waste the gem. You can still fill Azura's Star with any size soul if you have it, though. Also this in effect fixes black soul gems and the Black Star so that they only hold the black souls of humans and elves, which is what they're supposed to do according to in-game lore.

LOL I didn't see the DG requirement. Thx :D

Dr. Death, you don't own Dawnguard. Unfortunately Steamworks doesn't check if prerequisite DLC are installed or not, and just lets you break your game. That sucks but not much I can do about it.

Go to Skyrim Nexus and get the mod there. You can ge the version which doesn't require Dawnguard.

BUG ALERT: Whenever I start the game, it crashes. I've tested out all my other mods, and it's this one that's making it crash. If you could fix that, it would be great!

You were right. Downloaded from Nexus, and everything works now. Must just have been the workshop version.

You should download this mod from Skyrim Nexus anyway - but I've used both SKSE 1.6.16 and the alpha build (1.7.0) without trouble. And, this mod doesn't even require SKSE...

There seems to be a conflict between this mod and the newest version of SKSE. Attempting to run the SKSE loader with this mod installed causes a crash to desktop upon reaching the main menu. Just bringing this to your attention.

FINALLY! This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you SO MUCH for doing this! It's so aggravating to loose an expensive gem to a mudcrad soul.
You rock! :)
