So far South Scrimshaw, is an amazing mix between a nature documentary a visual novel and science fiction, it reminds me of a lot of good nature documentary who follow animals for years, showing their entire life, it also has amazing science fiction elements like the rich history of humans on other planets and such.

Only chapter one has been released by the time I write this review, but it simply blew me away, and this is coming from a guy who prefers games with rich gameplay over story, but this was so good I actually ended up liking it a lot.

The story feels much less grand and confusing (like a lot of visual novels and video game stories in general now adays), instead it feels very natural, it still has twists and high points but it does not overuse them, it plays its cards expertly and shows the life of a simple animal with some extra information about humanity and other animals in the backround.

Most games with rich stories as their main selling point tend to leave me asking questions and answer with either: "its up to you to interpret the answers" they or force me to view all of the side stories as part of the major story, but this game gives me all of what I want to know, while at the same time not giving too much as too be overwhelming, and it does this using the amazing branching path of stories you can choose to view instead of forcing minor story lines in the middle of the major story (I saw all of the paths by the way, because I prefer to see most information as I stated).

It feels a lot like doing research in a class, which is one of my favorite thing to do (besides playing video games of course).

Anyways amazing game, its free!
And it made me love nature even more, even if its on another planet.
Looking forward to chapter 2 and more I will follow this dev from now on as I'm interested to see what they will come out with next, I dont rreally care what it will be, I'm still gonna buy it.
